“That’s my Mam as well.”

Furrowing my brows, I asked, “Mam?”

Kellan smiled. “That’s an Irish nickname for mother. Instead of mom, it’s mam. When we were little, we called her mammy.”

“Since my mother didn’t grow up in Russia, she didn’t use the names likemamulyaormamochka. We called her mama, but we pronounced it like in British period dramas.”

“Don’t mention anything British in front of the Northern Irish man,” Kellan teased.

“I’ll have to remember that.”

With an intense look on his face, Kellan opened his mouth to say something. But then the waiter appeared again with our wine. “Would you like a starter while you decide?”

“Bruschetta?” I suggested.

Kellan nodded. “My friends tell me I have to try the calamari.”

The waiter nodded. “Good choice, sir.”

When he left, I cocked my brows at Kellan. “What were you about to say when we were interrupted?”

“I’m not sure you’ll like it.”

With a pointed look, I ordered, “Spit it out!”

CHAPTER THIRTY TWO: KELLAN

At Mila’s command to spit it out, I chuckled. “You're a bossy thing, aren’t you?”

“Stop stalling,” Kavanaugh.”

“Fine. After our conversation about mothers, I couldn’t help thinking thatyou will make a wonderful mam, Mila.”

While surprise flashed in her eyes, she sucked in a breath. “How can you possibly know that? We barely know each other, not to mention you’ve never seen me with a kid.”

“Well, as soon as you come to Boston with me, I’ll have the chance because I offered for us to babysit Quinn’s son.”

Mila’s jaw came unhinged. “You did what?”

“I owed him, and it was the easiest way to pay him back.”

“So you’ll watch me interact with this strange kid, and that will show you I have the potential to be a good mom?”

“You act like you didn’t tell me just the other day you wanted to have my babies.?” I teased.

“Seriously, Kellan?” Mila hissed.

“Fine. It’s evident you had a wonderful example in your late mother.”

Tears pooled in her eyes. “I only had her for twelve years. Maybe that isn’t enough.”

“Then my mother can help you fill the gaps.”

Mila sniffled as she swiped her eyes. “If your brothers aren’t a fan of me, I can only imagine what she thinks.”

“While she worries for my safety, she’s just happy I’ve met someone.”

“You told her about me?”
