Why is he sitting down?I took another deep breath. I needed to keep my composure. "No."

His eyebrows lowered slightly. "Well now I'm curious. How many guys have you slept with?"

Connor sat down next to Rory. He seemed just as eager to know my number.

"A normal amount." I sat back down and took a huge bite of ice cream so I could think of something to say to change the subject. "Why aren't you guys playing poker anymore?"

"It's not as fun without you," Connor said and winked at me. "Seriously, though, how many?"

"Where's Jackson?" I asked, ignoring their question.

"Probably out making his number higher."

I rolled my eyes.

"He got a call and had to leave early," Connor said. "Poker isn't great with just two people. We were actually on our way to the bar down the street. Do you want to join us?"

I remembered the feeling of Rory's hands on my hips while we danced. His breath had lingered on my neck. I quickly crossed my legs. "Do you need a wingman or something?"

"Absolutely. You promised me that you were the best. But first tell us your number," Connor said. "Maybe we should be working on getting you laid instead."

I finished my last bite of ice cream. "Three." I said quietly. "I mean four. It's four." I locked eyes with Rory.

"Really?" Connor asked. "Only four?"

Rory was staring at me.

I could feel my face flushing. "Yeah, only four."

Connor glanced over at Rory and then back at me. "Okay, let's go."

"You guys can go ahead. I'm really tired from my awesome date."

"Come on, Keira." Connor stood up and put his hand out for me. "I'm a pretty good wingman too. And if I fail, I'll sleep with you myself." He winked at me again.

"I don't think she wants to come," Rory said.

I locked eyes with Rory again. He didn't want me to come. He seemed to dislike the idea of me potentially hooking up with a stranger. Or sleeping with Connor. Was Connor still trying to help me?

"No, I'll come," I said and stood up. Somehow my night had turned from getting caught not actually on a date, to possibly successfully making Rory jealous. I couldn't pass up this opportunity.

Playing A Player - Chapter 22

We walked into the bar down the street. I had been there a few times before. It was always packed and always super loud. And it definitely wasn't a place I would normally go.

I wasn't sure if Rory and Connor actually believed my story about my date. I pretended to yawn and glanced over at Rory. He was staring at me.

"What's your poison, Keira?" Connor asked.

"Whatever you're having is fine."

"Scotch on the rocks?" Connor said skeptically.

I made a face. "A beer is fine."

"I'll be right back." Connor pushed through the other patrons to reach the bar.

Rory touched my shoulder and leaned in toward me. His touch gave me goose bumps. For a second I thought he was going to kiss me. But his lips moved to my ear.Of course.
