I glanced over at Jake and the men, who looked like they were all making bets against me getting laid tonight. Goddamn it, I had a fucking reputation to uphold. I was good in bed! Ileft broken hearts in my wake, and I sure as shit never failed in situations like this.

When I turned back to her, she flashed a beautiful and dazzling smile. I felt my breath hitch and my heart pick up pace in my chest. She was so fucking stunning, and I knew exactly who to blame for this colossal fuck up. Her. Andie. It appeared that after all this time and all those women I’d seduced, karma had finally crept up on me in the form of this woman.

I had finally met my match. The strange part was she had done nothing out of the ordinary to force this reaction from me. Well, perhaps she had. She’d been challenging me since I guided her to sit at this table. This was a woman I needed to be on top of my game with, not casual and overconfident. I needed to prove to myself that I still had it and prove to her that she wanted it. If I didn’t, the First Wives’ Club group chat would annihilate me—I’m talking Genghis Khan-level brutality.

The only thing I knew to do now was play the victim. Allow her to think that I was nervous and intimidated by her beauty. She’d believe that easily. Every woman loved a humble, shy man now and then, right? Hopefully, that was true because that’s all I had.

Andie

I’d never hadany man react to my presence like this, and it was nice. I suppose I’d lost a lot of time with my ex, him making me believe no guy would ever want to be with someone like me.

I’d almost forgotten how it felt to be on the receiving end of flattery, and it left a warm, effervescent sensation deep inside me. Perhaps I was being impulsive, but I decided to chase that feeling and let it fuel a fantastic night.

I loved that he was so nervous, too, because that meantIwould be the oneto be in control of things, and I was going straight in for the kill now.

I watched him glance over his shoulder again, watching to see if he was being made fun of by his friends.

“Here’s the deal. Play by my rules, or you’re jerking off alone in the shower tonight.”

His casual and laid-back grin told me I had his attention.

“Rules?” he questioned with curiosity.

A tingling shot through all the places that made a one-night stand with this man feel inevitable, sparking primal urges I hadn’t felt in far too long—like an electrical current surging through me.

This was going to be a fun night.

“Yes, rules,” I offered, sipping my cocktail and enjoying the fruity flavors more with every sip.

“Well, maybe Iwantedto jerk off in the shower alone, and that’s why I openly said so,” he taunted.

I smiled at him and took another sip. “Well, if that’s what you prefer, who am I to stop you?” I challenged him.

His blue eyes narrowed in a seductive way, “Who are you? I’ll tell you who you are, Andie…”

“Miller. It’s Andie Miller, and since you suddenly know so much about me, please enlighten me.”

He ran his hand through his dirty blond hair. “You intrigue me, damn it,” he said as if he couldn’t think of anything else to say.

I had no idea what I’d done to intrigue the man or put him at a loss for words, but I was damn proud of myself for whatever it was. I was turned on, and more than anything I was just glad to feel something other than sorry for myself. Call me lame, but right now I was alive, grateful, and horny as hell.

“I’ll take that as a compliment,” I said. “But let’s cut to the chase, shall we? We will play by my rules tonight if you want more than conversation and cocktails.”

“Okay, I’m in,” he said, leaning back in his chair and confidently extending one arm on the table.

“First, whatever happens between us tonight stays here. I’m not looking for a relationship,” I said, ensuring he understood I didn’t want or expect anything else.

He seemed to relax even more. “That’s definitely a rule I can agree to,” he said with a flirty grin, his eyes confidently studyingmine while he carefully slid his thumb over his bottom lip, waiting for my next rule.

“Good,” I smiled as if I were conducting some weird-ass mob negotiations. “The next rule is that we go more than one round. I haven’t had sex in over a year, and I expect to make up for that with your handsome ass.” My eyes studied his widened ones. “You look terrified,” I teased.

“Terrified?” he recovered. “Hell no. I am actually in shock that I’m potentially about to have the best sex of my life with the most intriguing woman I think I’ve ever met.”

"Next rule," I said, keeping my tone even despite the ache building low in my body—the kind that made me want to drag him back to his room and keep him there until sunrise. I only hoped he could handle everything I planned to demand from him.

He nodded, practically panting like a dog wanting a bone.
