This supernatural life was definitely not for the weak of heart.
“Elle, you’re as pale as a ghost,” Nakia said after I walked back into the room that was previously filled with a pack of wolf shifters.
“Trying to process things, that’s all,” I said, numbly sitting on the couch between Logan and Bren.
“No shit,” Bren said. “Even for a supernatural, this is hard to process.”
“You think?” Logan snapped back. “Your alpha just knocked up our girl.”
“That’s enough,” Cole interjected in a harsh tone. “We’re all merged as one now, and no matter whose baby Elle carries, the child is all of ours. End of fucking story.”
“Well, holy fucking shit,” Braden spoke as he entered the room from behind me. “Look who’s bonded with the alpha wolf.”
I turned and watched my burly vampire eye Cole dangerously. “Hold up.” I stood, “Everyone just shut the hell up right now. We’re not going to get into a pissing match, not when that witch can pluck all of us out of this place right here and now. We’ve got to pull it together and think.”
“Elle’s right.” Zane planted both hands on his hips. “Shane, can you tap in on her energy at all? We have to get a location on this bitch.”
I watched Zane with a lustful yearning. I felt pulled to him more than any other in the room. His dark gray, tight-fitting shirt emphasized his hard chest. His wavy hair, striking blue eyes against his dark skin, constant shadow defining his sculpted face. He was so fucking gorgeous.
“Earth to Elle,” Zac said with a knowing look from across the room. “Kind of need your head in on these plans.”
“What were we talking about?” I rubbed my forehead, embarrassed yet unable to control my pull towards Zane. “Damn it. I’m sorry, I can’t think straight right now.”
Cole knelt in front of me. “Listen, this is natural. You’re drawn to the father of your child. It’s okay, but we have to try and get your mind to refocus.”
“How?” I asked, stealing another glance at Zane who was watching me intently.
“Being that Zane is the father of that little life force growing at a rapid rate in your body, you can think more along the lines of keeping your child’s father alive. Try going that direction.”
I let out a breath, looking at Zane was not helping. “Maybe Zane can leave the room?” I spit out the first thing that came to mind. “I can probably think better if he’s not around.”
“Well, that’s a start,” Logan said in humor. “Kick Zane’s ass out of here, use him to bait the witch by putting him on a dog run, and once the witch comes in to kill him for screwing her plans, we’ll kill her.”
I glared at Logan. “Not funny, asshole.”
That’s when I felt it. No one was fucking with my guys, especially Zane. I couldn’t fathom never seeing him again. My emotions hit on a defensive level, and I was hoping this would stick so I could think.
“As much as you vamps think you can take that witch on, being smartasses about it and wanting one of the strongest alphas taken out by her proves how stupid you all really are.” Jen’s voice cut through my thoughts like a knife.
“Shut your bitch mouth.” I stood up and eyed her, “We’re all in this together.” I looked at Shane who was staring into the bowl again. “Can he track her down?” I asked Cole who stood at to my side.
“He’s working on it,” Zane said in a distant voice. “Shane, where are we at, buddy? Kind of need you to expedite your little tracking magic.”
Shane’s eyes went white and creepy as fuck.
“God, what the hell?”
“He’s fine. He’s using his vision magic to track her. It’s actually a good sign,” Bren said, now standing behind me. “We’re all going to get through this, we just need to know when and where we’re going to take this witch out.”
“Then we’ll focus on whether or not Enzo’s stupid ass got wind of the powerful supernatural merge that sent a ripple through our universe,” Zac said.
“What?” I covered my heart. “Oh God, what did we start?”
“A supernatural apocalypse,” Nakia winked with a smile.
“Not funny,” I answered his sexy smile with a look of reprimand to which he oddly recovered into a more serious expression and took a step back.
“What the hell did—how did she just do that?” Jen asked.
