“Did I miss something?” Logan asked, eying Cole then me.

“The witch fucked Elle over in thesexy timedepartment,” Cole said. “She somehow killed Elle’s drive to have sex, even—”

“Are you fucking serious?” Logan said with a tone of shock. “Why the hell would she do that when the whole point of kidnapping us was to get Elle knocked up in the first place?”

“No shit,” Cole responded dryly. “This bitch is up to something. I guess pissing us all off was part of her parting gift.”

“Damn,” I said, closing my eyes. “I’m so fucking pissed right now. This sucks!”

“It’s going to be okay, doll,” Cole said. “Let’s just get you comfortable.” He grabbed my hand and ran his thumb over my fingers. “I want you fed and relaxed by the time Edgar gets here.”

“Fuckers are stuck in Dallas until tomorrow,” Logan said. “Severe storms, I guess. It’s like the end of the world with the weather over there.”

“That’s strange,” Cole said.

I gulped. “Do you think it’s her? The witch? Can she control the elements like the weather?”

“Fuck if we know,” Logan said.

“Show Elle her room,” Cole ordered Logan. “I’m going to give Lucas a call. If these storms are a supernatural force, then shit just changed with the help we’re going to require. I’m not having that bitch follow them down here to Elle.”

“Oh for fuck’s sake!” I practically screamed in frustration. “Can she do that? Can’t that Edgar guy protect them from being found?”

“That’s what I’m about to find out,” Cole said. “And don’t trip out just yet. We’ll find help from another witch or warlock who we can trust this time. We actually know of a few down here from long ago.”

I smiled in relief. “Thank God. I just want this over with.”

“No shit!” Logan said as he took my hand and escorted me down the long hall that ended in two black, double doors. “Welcome to paradise, baby.”

When he dramatically swung the doors open, I gasped in awe at the beauty of the room that was literally fit for a king. This place was mind-blowing. It was the best damn thing that had happened to me since leaving the gorgeous views of the Banner’s beach house in Fiji, and I couldn’t wait to take full advantage of it.

Chapter Three

After exploring the master suite, I walked hand-in-hand with Logan out to where I could smell Cole’s five-star meal being cooked.

“That four-poster bed is going to be heavenly when you’re ready to start tearing it up again,” Logan teased.

“I’d give anything to get this curse lifted off me and feel normal with all of you again,” I answered, rubbing my dry—very dry—throat as we stepped down the grand staircase and turned toward the kitchen. “Sheesh, I feel like I could drink an entire gallon of water right now.”

Logan glanced down at me as he led me over to an oval dining table. “We got whatever you want, baby.”

“I just want water.” I smiled up at him as I took the seat he had pulled out for me. “And keep it coming.”

I licked my lips as my throat started to burn, feeling the dryness all through my mouth. My tongue felt disgusting. It was like my body had stopped producing saliva or some crazy bodily-fluid malfunction like that.

Not even five minutes later, I’d already downed an entire glass of water and had started working on the second. All of my gorgeous vampires sat around me with concerned expressions on their flawless, carved-to-perfection faces. I had eight set of gemstone eyes glistening in confusion as they discreetly watched me ignore the food in front of me and pound my water instead.

“What?” I finally asked as I set my glass down.

“Something’s up, and damn Roman and Lucas for possibly letting that witch onto their trail.” Zac glared over at Cole. “Sometimes I wonder if those two even have fucking brains or if that part was left out of their immortal DNA.”

Zac shoved back from the table across from me and folded his arms, waiting for Cole’s response.

“Just eat,” Cole responded. “Ellie,” he softened his tone and looked at me, “is anything else feelingoffwith you right now?”

“I have no appetiteagain, and I feel like I’m dying of thirst,” I answered while picking at the fish in front of me with the prongs of my fork.

“We have to try to get connected with a trustworthy witch doctor down here,” Braden said as he rubbed the back of my neck reassuringly. “That bitch could have Elle so cursed that she intends to let her wither away to nothing in front of our eyes.”
