“Same here,” Zane said. “They were something we studied as an extra art study in the academy, but they were only one of many tales of creatures who walked the Earth. It wasn’t until I became alpha that I had to make it a point to take it seriously. I always thought it was better safe than sorry if you’re dealing with the undead. Turns out, I was right.”

“Well, it seems like Enzo has some competition in the fucked-up plans for Earth department then. So now we have those creeps on our ass, and ancient witch, and once Enzo finds out his only daughter is alive and well, he’ll join in on the action too. This keeps getting better and better.” I looked at Zane’s shocked expression, “Oh, yeah, news flash, I’m the daughter of the psychopath vampire…guess we should’ve let you in on that last part before we all merged. You must totally fucking hate us now.”

Zane’s eyes narrowed at me, and I didn’t shy away in fear, even though I wanted to. “You’re that sick fuck’s daughter?” he said, oddly unaffected by what I’d said.

“Touch her, and I’ll fucking rip your goddamn head off,” Cole said, Zane ignoring him and grabbing my wrist.

“Do you want me to let you go?” he asked. His voice was oozing with some masculine pleasure behind it. “I don’t think any differently about you for being Enzo’s kid. Trust me, we don’t get to pick our parents, or else my life would’ve been a lot easier growing up.”

I felt that blanket of comfort come off of Zane and wrap tightly around me, drawing me closer into his body. “Tell me you don’t want me,” he said, “and I’ll let you go.”

My rational brain left, and now it was on supernatural mode. Supernatural desire mode. I couldn’t think of anything more than being with Zane, and I didn’t care. Cole must have picked up on the same thing since I felt his hand go under my shirt and rub across my stomach.

My body, heart, and soul were telling me it was time to start the bonding with Zane and that there was nothing more important than that right now. Kind of like and break in the weather and taking advantage of the short time before it started pounding down rain again.

My eyes focused on Zane’s neck where I had drunk from but never healed him properly. Just then, I realized why this charge of energy for the bond possessed all three of us, “I initiated the bond with you, didn’t I?”

Zane nodded, “It’s the only reason fucking you right here and now even with a vampire in the room is all I want to do. That’s saying a lot for a wolf.”

Shit was about to get real and get real fast because if they didn’t have the strength to get past this shit, I knew for a fact that I sure as hell didn’t. I reached into Zane’s shorts and found his cock hard and already wet, and there wasn’t any force around that was going to stop what was about to go down now.

It was time to complete bond number one with my two alpha guys at my mercy.

Chapter Nineteen

Everything came to a screeching halt right before Zane’s full lips touched mine. His eyes went wild, and his face contorted into an expression of pain before he doubled over, gripping his stomach.

“Oh God,” he huffed in pain. “Oh shit.” He stumbled backward, leaving Cole and me staring in shock as the muscular man collapsed on the worn-down, oversized chair.

“Zane?” Cole spoke first, “Are you okay, man?”

Zane writhed in the chair and groaned like he was being attacked by some invisible force. “No,” he growled. “It’s Bren. Goddamnit.”

Cole and I exchanged baffled looks before I jumped into a different mindset at that moment. I watched Zane writhing in pain, and my instincts told me I had to do something to help my guy.My guy.It was the first time I referred to any of the wolves like that and felt the truth of what Zane really was to me. My heart started pounding in my chest, imagining why he’d say his pain related to Bren.

“Zane, what the hell?” I sat on the arm of the chair. “What about Bren? What’s going on?”

“We’re connected,” he cried out. “I can’t explain right now. I…” he cut himself off, calling out in pain again.

I felt my blood heating up under the surface of my skin. I cringed in agonizing pain but managed to think my way through this burning hell that was trying to consume me from the inside out.

“I have to help him,” I said to Cole.

Cole’s eyes looked wicked with anger. “Elle, you have to be careful. Wolves don’t feed on blood. I know what you’re thinking, and you can get yourself killed.”

I shook my head at Cole’s statement. “I have to try,” I responded sternly. “The shaman even said my blood could help the wolves after our merge.”

“If he’s connected to Bren, he could take more blood than he needs to heal the wolf. He’s out of his mind in pain, and he might get greedy with need and hurt you—or worse—kill you.”

I pinched my lips in anger at Cole. “I’m not going to lose them. My blood replenishes itself, and I feel it burning me. It’s like the life-blood in me is still there.”

“I know, I can scent it.” Cole conceded, “Fine. I will make sure he doesn’t hurt you. I’ll rip his goddamn head off if he drains you. Don’t forget, you’re still altered by that dark magic. You’re not functioning like the Life Blood you were before that witch fucked with you.”

“Enough talking, I’m doing this,” I ordered Cole and looked at Zane. I brought my hand to his face while he panted through the pain that was mysteriously crippling him. “Zane, you need to feed on me.”

Zane shook me off and shifted further in the chair away from me. “No,” he growled, looking at me as if I were insane.

“You will feed on me whether you want to or not,” I demanded.
