The gorgeous Bren coughed out a laugh, and Jen gave me the first death stare of this new wolf-vamp alliance.
“A lot of things have been a first for me lately.” She arched an eyebrow at me, “You and my guy staring at each other likeyouare his intended mate sort of brings out the dark side of me that you’ve never met.”
“Knock it off,” Bren said. “Elle, you feeling okay?”
“I’m fine. Where are my guys?” I asked, trying to shove these emotions bubbling up in me for this badass looking dude aside.
His lips quirked up in the corner. Oh my God, he was fucking gorgeous. Built like Braden, tall, dark, and ridiculously handsome. His face had sharp features, features that not only made him irresistibly gorgeous but also showed he was capable of ripping your heart out through your chest.
“We’re all in here,” he said as Jen ran her shoulder intentionally into him. I watched her bounce off the muscular dude, his eyes dancing as they followed her stomping down a hallway. “Come on, I’ll take you to them.”
I walked by the guy, and like Braden, the top of my head barely reached his shoulder. I felt an energy hit me, but I couldn’t explain it. Just walking by his side, I felt like this guy and I had been the best of friends in another life. It was freaking weird, and I needed to get into the presence of my guys quickly.
I entered a large living room area where I felt relief wash over me as soon as I made eye contact with the brilliant gemstone eyes of my four vampires. I smiled and covered my heart that kicked into high gear. The guys each shot me a flirty glance, then all at once—and it was when intense energy bolted right through my body and soul—their faces fell.
My eyes were mysteriously pulled from my vampires and over to the flawless face of a dark-haired, black-eyed, warrior-like looking man. His stare was intense, and my insides swirled with butterflies. I sucked in a breath—literally having it taken from me when the guy licked his full lips and bit his bottom one. He leaned forward, elbows resting on each knee, and it seriously looked like the dude was reading into my soul.
“You the shaman?” I managed to get out.
How the hell did the chatter in the room die as soon as I made I contact with this guy? Why didn’t my vampires get their asses up and come over to me the minute this guy held me hostage with his penetrating gaze? What the hell was going on with my body, and why was I more drawn to this guy than my vamps at this exact moment?
“Shane is the shaman. He’s in the kitchen.” His deep voice was like velvet, yet it held a power that made me want to fall to my knees and do anything he wanted. “I’m Zane, this pack’s alpha.” His eyes narrowed and roamed over my body, then returned to my eyes that couldn’t leave the perfection of his face. “I’m glad to see you’re feeling better. When I got to you five, I could have sworn you had taken out the strongest immortals known to this world.”
Oh God, he saw me fucking Cole and fully vamped out. Dude must think I’m a freak.
I forced my eyes off where he held mine hostage. I looked at Cole, my alpha, hoping his face or expression had answers for me.
I absently sat in a chair that faced the guys and swallowed hard when my vamps’ tightened lips looked at this Zane guy, then back to me.
“You feel it don’t you, Elle?” Cole asked calmly.
“Feel what?” I tried to get around the question.
“Their pull. The fact that…” Zac pinched the bridge of his nose, Logan could have killed someone, and Braden sat as still as a statue. Whatever the shaman had given them to calm them down was keeping them from ripping this man apart.
“What pull?” I demanded from Zac.
“If you thought shit was crazy earlier when you tried to kill us,” Cole spoke up, “we’re about to blow your fucking mind with this latest turn of events.”
“My God, someone tell me what the hell is going on.”
“Elle,” Zane ran a hand over his mouth, “we are to complete the eternal bond. You are the one true mate for my brothers and me.”
I stood up and glared at the alpha dude I couldn’t peel my eyes away from. “ThefuckI am. I’m not a damn shifting wolf, and I’m sure as fuck noteveryone’seternal mate!”
“They will complete the eternal bond,” an older man who looked like every Native American medicine man I’d ever seen on TV said from behind me. “Don’t fear, child. The prophecies always told me that it would be a special Life Blood who would bring the children of the moon to the children of blood. Your bond must take place, or you will, in fact, kill the Four.”
“The Four?” I spat out, not able to process what I was hearing. “The four what?”
“We arethe Four, Elle,” Braden said in a defeated voice. “The shaman is right. We have to join powers with the three wolves.”
“Is this because of that fucking witch? We’ll kill her first.”
I couldn’t imaginecheatingon my guys with these wolf shifters, I didn’t give a fuck how sexy they were. My body belonged to my vampires.
“The witch fucked a lot of shit up by altering who you are, doll,” Cole said. “She pretty much fucked herself though. She set a prophecy motion. You, my cousins, and the three most powerful wolf shifters being bonded as one powerful force…there won’t be anything that stops us after we merge our powers.”
“What exactly does all this shit mean?”
