“So the wolves’ blood has the same effect as life-blood then?” I looked at both my vampires. “I’m confused.”
“No. Your blood heals us as well. Yours is far more potent. Wolves’ blood—immortal wolves—is different from vamp blood. I’m not one-hundred percent sure if it will work, but I feel like it will.”
Strangely enough, I felt it too. I couldn’t explain the emotion, maybe I was just feeling it from Cole since I randomly had been picking up on everyone’s feelings since I grew fangs overnight, but I felt like thiswasthe answer. I don’t why, but I sensed there was about to be another change within our bonded group.
Chapter Seven
Istared blankly at some random sitcom on the television, trying to stomach the drastic changes that had happened through the night. I wasn’t tired, and I should’ve been out of my mind exhausted, but I was so pissed that all I wanted was to find a way to kill that witch for what she’d done to all of us.
Cole gave me an alpha command that pretty much made the guys all off limits for my new greedy vampire self, and the cuffs were taken off once we were all confident that I wasn’t going to drain any of them at any given moment.
My vamps had migrated into the other room to go over the details of how we were supposed to deal with this drastic change in our lives. Somewhere between them arguing over the best way to fix this and not agreeing on one solution, my mind finally shut down, and my eyes slipped closed.
I was ripped from a dreamless sleep by the aroma of burnt flesh, and then my face, arms, and feet were scorching as if I had been thrown into a pit of fire. I screamed out in agony only to be pulled from the flames and into a dark room.
The blisters I felt covering my hand went away as quickly as they had appeared. I looked up to see I was cradled in Cole’s embrace, backed up against a painted white brick wall.
“I’m so sorry, Ellie. I didn’t think about the window,” he said, breathing as if he just finished a marathon. “Fuck this witch.”
“What the hell happened?” I glanced at the staircase that led up to a shut door. “Are we in the basement?”
“Yes,” he answered as he took my face in his hand and examined it. He kissed my forehead and brought me tightly into his chest. “We need that bastard Edgar, but the wolves are closer.” He pinched his lips together. “You’re a turned vamp, and your skin can’t handle the sun’s rays. The sun came through the window. You were practically on fire when I got to you.”
“Oh my God,” I said. “I can, I mean, I…” I shook my head trying to process this new fun fact. “Is my soul gone like the human-turned vampires? Did that witch damn me to hell?”
Cole shook his head. “No. Your soul is right where it belongs. If she had managed to fully change you outside of the blood magic, it would have severed our bond.”
“She okay?” Logan said, hopping down the steps and closing the door behind him. “Jesus, Elle.” He knelt next to me, examining my hands and then my face. “You need to understand that this witch is more than fucked when we get a hold of her.”
“What do we do now?” I asked them. “I hide in the basement until night?”
“The shaman is on his way.” Logan looked at Cole then me, “Spoke to Jon, and he’s in disbelief that we have a witch up our ass right now. He’s willing to do anything to help Elle.”
“What will the shaman do? Why couldn’t Edgar come, or are they still playing games with the witch that caused this shit?”
“Roman, Edgar, and Lucas all think it’s best if they keep the witch away from us. She’s on their ass, but she’s also waiting for us to call to Edgar because she thinks we’re desperate enough to use his talents in dark magic to reverse all the shit she caused,” Logan said, gently caressing my arm. “You’re going to need to feed on one of us to fully heal yourself and prepare to be spelled by the shaman.”
My mouth started watering as soon as my vampire half smiled at me. “What if I kill one of you?”
“You need to drink from a bag,” Cole said sternly.
Logan ran his hand through my hair and smiled. “I think I have an idea.” He looked at Cole. “The wolves won’t be here for another hour with their shaman. It’s going to take you a while to interrogate their asses before we let them near our girl, and I have a great way to entertain our lady while you question the shifters.”
Cole released me from where I was cradled in his arms. “How are you feeling outside of your bloodlust, doll?”
“It feels like I have a sunburn,” I said as I ran a hand along my arm. “I think I’m healing, that’s obviously a new thing.”
“What you are feeling is the damage to the inside of you as well, but you’re a young vampire, and the fact that you feel anything besides pain for consuming blood is above normal. You need to feed.” He looked at Logan. “I can’t question Jon and fill him in, knowing she only follows my commands. She’ll drain your ass, and from what it looked like with Braden, he was so spellbound by her feeding that he didn’t care that she was draining him.”
Logan looked at me. “You into getting kinky?” he winked, most likely recalling our time at the waterfall in Fiji.
His blood was consuming my senses, and I was up for anything as long as I got to feed on him. “I’m down.”
“Tell Zac I’m going to need him to get my back, but,” Logan touched my wrists, “you need to know I’m only restraining you soyoudon’t kill my ass in this. Got me?”
“What exactly are you planning?” Cole demanded.
“If Elle is cool with it, we close the damn shutters on this place, darken the house and get her upstairs to her room. With the storm shutters closed on the outside and curtains drawn on the inside, the room will be black as night.”
