“I can smell one of the Banners on this Life Blood.”
“They fed on her? Fuck!”
“Fuck is right. She reeks of him. It’s almost like he’s marked her somehow. Enzo has to undo this.”
Logan!
“Let me go!” I found my voice.
“Shut the hell up!”
“Through the window, let’s go. That vamp is coming.”
My vision was blocked when a rough fabric was pulled over my head. Everything was black, and it felt like I was suddenly on a roller coaster rushing through the air, g-forces throwing my body with every movement.
I was screwed.
Take a bow, Elle, you deserve every last bit of fucking torture you get for this.
Chapter Twenty-Seven
After I was shoved into the backseat of a car, I felt two rock-solid bodies tightly against either side of me as the driver slammed on the gas and sent us racing down the street.
The cloth was ripped from my head, and I could see we were in a large SUV. Two redhead males were in the front, dressed in work clothes from the clinic.
Where the fuck is Val?
I sat silently between two bodies, seeing the coast off to my left, and nothing but road straight ahead. God only knew where I was.
“Why did you take the bag off her head?” the driver shouted from the front seat as he looked into the mirror at whoever was sitting beside me.
“Oh, shut up. I want to see her. She’s a tiny little thing,” a female’s voice rang out, “You’re right, the scent of a Banner is all over her. Aren’t you the lucky little human?”
“Those assholes must be desperate to overthrow Enzo. So desperate that they let their little Life Blood run away from home,” another female to my left answered. “Look at me, you little whore.”
My chin was in an icy grip and my head forced to turn and meet the amber eyes of the stunning brunette sitting to my left. “We have your mommy, and now we have you,” she smiled devilishly, “the last Life Blood to be accounted for and now the fact she did have a little bitty baby Life Blood.” She laughed. “Your boyfriends are about to lose all the fucking power they could have gained, and now, the war will come.”
“I have no idea what the hell you’re talking about,” I snapped.
“Doesn’t matter,” she laughed, “Enzo will have all the Life Bloods now, feed from them, and there’s not shit a Banner can do about it. Especially since we took the last chance they had away from them.” She touched a finger to my forehead. “And that’s you, little girl.”
“Fuck you.” I turned my head to the front again. I had to get the hell out of this car.
Nice. I was the final Life Blood, and mom and I were on our way to help that psychopath dominate these vamps and the human race.
“How’d you like our little setup? We’ve been looking for your mom for a very long time now. Did you know that she was whoring herself out to the Grishon coven years ago? Did your Banner vamps let you in on that little secret? Maybe not. We couldn’t take them out until she left them, and her blood left their system. That’s when we tortured them and killed some of them to try and find where their little whore Life Blood ran off to.” She mocked. “Those fuckers were just as stupid as your little Banner pets will be when they come for you.” She brought her lips to my ear, “And FYI, we slaughtered and burned the rest your mom’s vampire friends after she left the coven and they went looking for her. It wasn’t pretty.”
I cringed away from her. “I don’t need a fucking history lesson.” I glared at the black-haired, purple-eyed bitch sitting to my right, “Yeah, you win. Nice.”
“Enough talking,” the redhead in the passenger seat interrupted with a stern voice, “Did any of you take care of the vamp that was with her?”
“She’s a pile of ash. Ripping her head off was easier than I thought.”
I felt the bile creeping up into my throat. Val was dead because I was the dumb girl in the horror movies who made theobviouslystupid decision.
The SUV came to a screeching halt, my seat belt cinching into my chest bracing me against the seat.
“All right, we’re at the transfer point.”
