I laughed with the rest of the girl vamps.
“But, they can and probably will resist you.” Liz arched a brow at me. “Out of respect for you, of course.”
Val burst out into laughter, “Until she’s as horny as hell for more, and begs them to screw her while they feed. Quit being a bitch, Liz. It’s getting you nowhere tonight.”
“Who knows.” I smiled a Liz’s evil red face. “Maybe this will be awesome after all.” I looked back at Val, “Anyway, looks like I brought that change of subject back to sex again.”
She laughed, “What else do you want to know about us—about the Banners?”
“Can you tell me more about what I am and why I have a bond with them?”
“They didn’t go over this with you?” Val asked.
“They sort of did, but not thoroughly. I don’t really know the history of what the hell I really am.”
Sophie’s face darkened, “Life Bloods are humans who have blood that can cure vampires of diseases that Enzo has created to kill off the immortals who oppose him. Your kind was created by a very powerful witch. She cast a spell on three girls, and every child those girls gave birth to became Life Bloods. It has been carried down through all of their female descendants since that time, but if a Life Blood dies without ever having any female children, their line dies. That is why you are all very rare.”
“And Enzo wants to get them to feed on them…us…me?”
“Yes,” Sophie answered, “He has already collected close to a hundred Life Bloods, he’s given them immortality, and feeds from them. That’s why he’s so strong.”
“Well, shit,” I said looking out at my guys as they played around in the surf, “What if my blood can give all of you that same power? If all of you have some, you can kill Enzo, and this will all be over.”
“You think it’s as easy as that?” Elizabeth said. “It’s not. Those four won’t allow any of us to drink your blood. Hell, they won’t even do it even though your blood is theirs.”
“My blood ismine,” I snapped back, “And if I want to donate it for the cause of kicking Enzo’s ass, then I will. How the hell did he make the Life Blood humans he captured immortal?”
“The way we can change any human into a vampire, we inject venom into their blood while feeding on them,” Sophie said.
“Have any of you done that?”
“No. We never needed to. Thank God, because that would just mean we were creating vampires for Enzo to capture and turn into one of his followers.” Sarah said.
“Well, I’ll talk to Braden about my blood situation tonight,” I said confidently.
“Um, can I beg you to save that convo for a different night?” Val pleaded.
“Why?”
“Because Braden’s going to think we’ve been up here all night trying to convince you to let us have your blood. Seriously, it’s not going to happen. No one in our coven wants your blood. It’s sort of supernaturally only theirs,” Sarah added.
“Well, isn’t that awesome.”
“Now you know why I think this whole thing is dumb. Lucas forcing us to stay here and protect a Life Blood who has not only taken our strongest vampires away from us,” bitch Elizabeth looked at me wickedly again, “but your blood is of no value to us anyway.”
“We’re here because of our loyalty to Lucas and the Banners. Now, shut the hell up and quit bitching.” Val responded.
I yawned. I had no idea what had come over me, but I was tired and ready to leave. Maybe the conversation was just a little too much for my brain to handle.
“Cute,” Sophie said, “Looks like Braden is using one of his special abilities on you as we speak.” Her eyes lit up as she looked behind me, “Seems someone is ready to go home and curl up with his dream girl.”
“What?” I whispered knowing the guys were all calling it a night and walking toward us.
“Braden just sent a wave of energy toward you. He and Logan both. They have a talent for sending out calming auras. Are you feeling tired?” Sophie asked.
“Yeah.” I narrowed my eyes out at Braden’s gorgeous grin. “How in the hell am I supposed to chew his ass out for messing with my emotions when he throws up a smile like that?”
I heard the girls laugh, confirming I just said that out loud.
