“That’s it,” Logan’s voice filled the air like an intoxicating fragrance.

“Thank God,” Braden’s voice sounded just as relieved as I was feeling at the moment.

“Come on, Ellie,” Logan said softly while managing to pull me into his arms.

I clung to Logan’s side, his hand gently stroking up and down my spine, and I peered over at Braden’s face. The face of an angel carved by God himself. He was beautiful and perfect. Everything was so surreal and wonderful I could have curled up with either one of these guys and slept in their arms all night.

“Stay with me,” I said and wholeheartedly meant it. I needed them both and couldn’t imagine not having them with me tonight…or ever again.

“You’ve got this?” Braden eyed Logan.

“I’ll take care of her. She’ll be in a nice, deep sleep until morning,” Logan said.

“All right. I’ll see you back at the house. We will be here when she wakes up.”

“Don’t leave me,” I pleaded as Logan slid onto my bed with me, not letting me go.

“I’ll be here,” he said in that soothing voice that my body could hardly resist.

So caught up with the feelings that Logan was the love of my life, I turned to him lying next to me and reached for his face. “You’re so handsome,” I said, not embarrassed I told the truth of how I felt about him.

His sapphire eyes were hypnotic as they stared into mine. I saw the brilliance of their gemstone quality encircled by a dark black color. God, his eyes could win over anyone’s heart. I ran my fingers over his lips—lips that were begging me to place mine on them to feel the passion I knew was behind their soft, shaped-to-perfection appearance. I went with my impulse and slid my fingertips over the dark stubble along his cheek and pressed my body against his.

He exhaled and closed his eyes while his hand that was once tenderly massaging my back became firm. He groaned when I brought my lips to his chin after he tightened his grip, holding our bodies in position.

I watched his eyes reopen when his hand captured my face. They were dark, and I felt nothing but a sincere desire to kiss him.

“Elle,” his voice was hoarse and his expression pained.

Damn, I wanted him, but now I was sensing this was so very wrong. I wasn’t ready for this, and neither was he.

“Why do I want you more than anything in the world right now? Why does it feel like this will take away every pain I’ve ever had?”

He tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear, his hand finding a way to keep my lips from touching his. Instead, he pressed his lips against my forehead.

“Braden was right. Your blood calls to me too. Impressing these feelings of security and letting you in on my emotional state is overwhelming.” He pulled his face back, eyes intently studying mine. “You’re only sensing what I am somehow able to unlock in your deeply buried emotions.”

“The fact that I feel like I love you?” Love? Yes. That’s how I felt. I loved him, but I didn’t know why.

“In the future, these emotions will surface. When your trust in all of us starts to build, these are the emotions that will follow them. I’m pretty shocked they’re opening up like this to me.” He let out a breath and closed his eyes, “I look forward to the day when these emotions are justified.”

“I don’t understand. Are you playing games with me? Doing a vampire thing?”

He smiled and tucked me in close to him, resting his chin on top of my head. “Yes, but the emotions surfacing in you are your own.” His lips were at my ear and his hand pressing into my lower back, “You have no idea what this is doing to me,” he whispered. “It’s taking all I can not to act on both our emotions as they collide like this. I have never felt like this with any woman, vampire or human.”

“You love me?”

These feelings of bliss were insane, and they were growing by the second. I couldn’t rationalize anything. Logan was like a drug or something, there was no other explanation for me not fighting it.

“You need your rest,” he said, his voice smooth again. My mind began to slow down, and my heart found it’s natural rhythm again. “That’s it, Ellie,” he exhaled, and I sensed relief wash over me, “You’ll be sleeping soundly soon, and when you wake up, you won’t fight us. You will learn to accept all of this, knowing we are yours, and you are now ours to protect. This will feel natural, and you won’t fear the truth anymore.”

My breaths were long and slow. It felt as though I were floating through the air as I soaked in Logan’s words. The more he spoke, the more my mind relaxed until I heard the last words he uttered, “That’s it, I can feel it in you. You know who you are. You accept it completely. Now, sleep.”

Chapter Nine

Iwoke up to the feeling of the sun shining on my face through my bedroom window. I couldn’t remember ever feeling so refreshed. I stretched, smiled, and sat up in my bed. For the first time in what seemed like forever, I felt ready to face the day. Everything felt right.

I slipped out of bed and looked down, “I slept in my work clothes?” I whispered to myself. “What the hell?”
