I pull aside the covers and tug Lucy’s full naked length on top of my own. The skin to skin sensation is the most heady bliss I’ve ever felt. “You feel so fucking good,” I say as I nuzzle her neck.

“You too,” she murmurs, and then gasps as I flip her on her back and begin to wind my way down her body.

I close my mouth over one hardened nipple, and she arches against me. My fingers are already spreading her again, and she’s reaching for my cock, and suddenly I’m inside her again.

Holding myself still, encased in her molten heat, I stare into Lucy’s eyes. “I want to be with you, Lucy,” I say. “Today, tomorrow, and every day after that if you’ll have me.”

“I want to be with you too, Jake,” Lucy says, her eyes glowing. “You’re the only man I want. Can you ever forgive me?”

“There’s nothing to forgive,” I say, and begin to move.

The next few moments are filled with gasps, moans, and quickening breaths as the second climax of the evening is even higher than the first. Shuddering time and time again into her, I never knew it could feel like this—like I’ve finally come home.

Chapter forty-four

Lucy

Wrapped in Jake’s strong arms, more satiated than I’ve ever been, I feel at peace. It’s probably been close to an hour since we came up here, and it’s already been one of the best hours of my life.

“My brother Wyatt came over the other day,” Jake says, stroking my back.

“Really? He’s a lawyer, right?”

“Yeah. And…he told me he was gay.”

I lift onto one elbow to stare at Jake in surprise. “Wow. Did you have any idea?”

“Not at all. Although, looking back, it makes a hell of a lot of sense.”

“Do you think he’ll tell your parents?”

Jake laughs. “Funny you ask.” He briefly recounts his conversation with his brother and then the showdown with his family. “And…he told me to get my head out of my ass and go after you.”

I laugh. “I need to meet this guy. I’d love to meet someone from your family who actually supports you and gives you great advice like that—not like Sterling.”

“Yeah…it’s funny. I thought for the longest time that my life would be perfect if I could just be like Sterling. But now, that’s the last thing I’d want. He has his job…and I guess my dad’s approval. But me?” He looks at me tenderly. “I not only have the two best jobs in the world, but I also got the girl.”

We smile at each other. I’m sure if anyone saw us, they would shake their heads, thinking we were the cheesiest couple on the planet. But I don’t care. Maybe we are.

“What about your mom…do you think she may eventually accept Wyatt?”

Jake sighs. “I thought that she always sided with my dad, but maybe not. After all, she connected me with my therapist and got me piano lessons behind my father’s back. And she even thinks I’m a good teacher.”

“You are! I mean, you really helped that PCT, Thomas.” I pause for a moment as an idea flits through my mind. “Wait! Is there any way for you to combine your teaching skills with nursing?”

Jake’s eyes widen. “Are you a mind reader?” He fills me in on his discussion with Alicia and the possibility of going back to school for a teaching degree.

“That would be perfect for you! You should do it!” This career plan has Jake written all over it, and I couldn’t be more thrilled for him.

“And…I won best employee of the month.” Jake looks flushed but proud.

I shriek and shove his shoulder. “Oh my God, Jake! Congrats! You deserve all of that and more! I am so proud of you.”

“I guess we had more to catch up on than I realized, but I’m done. Your turn.”

I grin. “I guess both of our brothers have been playing matchmaker.” I tell him about my recent conversation with Peter.

“I’m so glad you finally connected with him,” Jake says, holding me close. “It sounds like you guys worked out a lot of stuff that’s been hanging over your heads for years.”
