“Will they need the help?”I asked.
“They’ve delivered lots of babies without us,”Cobalt shrugged.“Uncle Nicky kicks everyone out of the room anyway. His magic gets a little hot headed when he’s in labor.”
“Should we go now?”I asked, glancing toward the kitchen door.
“No,”Cobalt shook his head.“If we leave because of him, he’ll feel bad. Besides, the doctor is coming here and so are Indi and Ambry. It’s okay. We’re family and Uncle Nicky will let us know if we’re bothering him. I think he likes having another pregnant person around.”
The front door swung open and Ambry and Indigo walked in. Ambry held Baby Robin to his chest as they kicked off their shoes and said their hellos.
“Want me to hold him while you all eat?” Cade offered before anyone else had the chance to.
“Do you need to eat?” Ambry asked.
“I’m pinned,” Cade laughed, nodding to his toddler asleep across his calves. “And I don’t mind. I’m not Clarence. Give me the baby and go save Nim from Nicky. I really don’t mind.”
Ambry handed off Baby Robin and Cade lit up as if he’d been handed the best thing in the universe. Everyone knew Clarence wasn’t around a lot when Cade was little and he made an effortto be the opposite of his own sire. That carried over into how he was a grandparent too. He rocked the sleepy baby as he cooed and flailed his little limbs around for a few minutes before settling back in for a post lunch nap.
“You think Teal and Ciro are coming up for air anytime soon?” Cade asked once Indigo and Ambry were in the kitchen.
“Something up?” Cobalt asked, his scent shifting to worry.
“Nothing bad. Clarence just wants him to take a look at the official plan for Moonscale Meals. That’s what he’s calling his version of Teal’s thing. Not that I expect your brother will stop what he’s doing,” Cade chuckled.
“Teal doesn’t have time to wait around for Clarence’s bureaucracy,” Cobalt shrugged, his scent returning to normal.
“And they’ve let Torvan out of jail,” Cade added as if he waited for the baby to be in the room before he sprung the news. “He’s been sentenced to community service and anger management. They may have kept him longer but the guards are afraid of getting too pushy with Morvan because of Teal and he wouldn’t leave while his brother was there. Add to it the fact he refused to leave to clean up and I’m guessing everyone was ready to get rid of the double-trouble twins. I don’t know how Teal’s going to feel about that.”
“Morvan’s his friend. I bet he’s happy he’s finally gonna wash his ass,” I laughed, trying to break the tension and relaxed a little when both dragons laughed too.
“Probably,” Cade nodded. “I don’t know that Torvan’s learned anything but unless he messes with you all again, he’s not my problem. I can’t take him to raise.”
“You’ve disliked him since that horrible date he had with Teal,” Cobalt teased.
“I disliked him before that. I was glad they figured out they were incompatible early on,” Cade shrugged.
“Do you think he’ll come here just to bother us?” I asked.
“Not unless Morvan shows up here,” Cobalt sighed. “We haven’t seen the last of him, but the cabin was the first time he did something that asinine.”
There was a splash in the kitchen and Cobalt dropped the remote onto the floor. Cade flinched as the baby and the toddler cried out at the same time. Cobalt was up and scooping up his little brother before he had time to work himself into a full crying fit. The smell of blood and baby filled the house. Uncle Nicky’s water had broken.
“Is that our cue?” I asked Cobalt.
“NOBODY NEEDS TO RUN AWAY! I’M HAVING A PUP NOT GIVING BIRTH TO A T-REX!” Uncle Nicky barked.
“Stay,” Cade mouthed to us. “At least for lunch and your ultrasound. Then leave like you planned to.”
“Ambry, you okay in there?” I called out because his scent spiked in panic.
“He’s never seen a bear charge in through a back door and scoop up a wolf like that,” Uncle Cedar called from the kitchen. “We’ll be in the birthing room if you all need anything. Cade, someone needs to get Manny! Maybe let Leo know his next godkid is being born!”
I almost volunteered to go until I realized I was pregnant and didn’t have a clue where Manny was or who Leo was. Cobalt filled me in on the details of how Leo was one of Manny’s closest friends as Indigo sprinted through the living room.
“Take care of my baby!” he called over his shoulder to Cade as he headed out the front door.
“My baby now,” Cade cooed to Baby Robin. “All mine.”
“He’s a goofball,” Eston said, coming into the living room on Ambry’s heels as if he had to deliver him to us himself. He squeezed in on the sofa with us and pressed his ear to my belly while I stroked his hair.
