I laughed and tried to twist around to face him, but I was too comfy, and my belly was too large to wiggle around easily. Yawning, Cobalt climbed over me and stroked my cheek.

“Better?”

“Yeah. I like seeing you. I feel like a beached whale wallowing around on the bed,” I laughed and stretched my neck to give him a soft good morning kiss. “Is it morning?” I asked, glancing at the big window covered by black out curtains.

“I think it’s like ten something,” he shrugged.

“How can you tell?”

“By how many times I heard Ambry wake up to feed Robin,” Cobalt yawned. “Part of me wants to make coffee. The other part of me doesn’t think it’s fair that I’m going to drink a pot and you can’t.”

“Mate, I couldn’t drink a whole pot of coffee before I was pregnant. Anxiety and that much coffee don’t mix and play well together,” I chuckled. “Though, I’m still sort of sleepy too. Did you carry me inside?”

“Yeah,” he nodded. “You were out cold. Guardie was in here. Dad installed a doggy door on the house and on the bedroom while he waited for us to get here. I think he’s out in the garden. Apparently, he likes melons. Not that I blame him. I like them too. Though, maybe not as much as Teal. He used to dive face first into them when we were kids.”

“Did someone let Dad know we arrived?” I asked about Ambry’s dad.

“Yeah,” Cobalt nodded. “Ambry texted him but so did my sire. I think Medwin and them know we’re gone too from the feel of things on the family link. Maybe we shouldn’t have snuck off, but everyone’s too wound up.”

“It feels different here,” I yawned and snuggled down further into the bed. When it came time for me to get up, I was definitely going to need help.

“Good or bad different?” Cobalt asked, stroking my cheek.

“Good. Peaceful. You’re more relaxed too.”

“This is home. London is great. The Moonscale Territory is great, but this is home for me. Doesn’t mean we have to stay here all the time, but this is home. This is where we grew up and where we know everyone.”

“How long did it take us to get here? Sorry, I’m so full of questions this morning. If I didn’t fall asleep, I’d know the answers, I know.”

“Ask away,” Cobalt said and stole a quick kiss. “About two hours. It isn’t a bad little trip if you can fly. It’s about an hour if you fly the Other World part too. Dad could’ve taken that route but with you being pregnant and the baby being so small the ground felt like a safer option.”

“That’s not bad at all,” I said, wishing I could roll onto my back and stretch out but that was another no-no when you were pregnant. “Especially if I can nap the whole time. This wasn’t a nap, though, huh? This was something else all together.”

“I was worried about bringing you and Ambry here,” Cobalt whispered his admission. “I still am a bit. You were so determined to keep the apartment and now---”

“Stop it,” I shook my head. “We decided to give up the apartment because our safe space expanded. Do you think we enjoyed only living at the apartment and the grocery store? It worked because we made it work. The nesting tower was safe. It’s meant to survive explosions. That’s why it was built. It waspiss your pants scary but we were safe. I’m sorry Guardie didn’t get out there in time to stop him. I don’t know if he knows how to fly yet. We’re safe. We don’t need a tiny den when we’re safe. When things were a little less than safe, we moved to a safer space. I’m not saying I want to be nomadic and run around all the time, but you and Indigo kept your promises. We’re safe. Our kids are safe.” I lowered my voice to a whisper. “Indigo killed a man to keep us safe. We’re safe. That’s all we ever wanted.”

“You’ll be safe as long as one of the three of us are breathing,” Cobalt whispered, taking my hand in his and kissing it. “Hell, if my parents or grandparents are breathing or –” he glanced out the window like he had others in mind. “Your family has gotten a lot bigger.”

“Maybe if we stay, I can expand the store here. Like a franchise or something. I know Heartville doesn’t use a lot of cash either, though,” I bit my lip and thought about it for a minute. “For something to do or are all the business spots taken up?”

“Shops come and go here. Hell, if you want to have a grocery store that just gives away food because you want something to do we can do that,” Cobalt grinned. “We have options. The whole world is open to you and if you don’t feel safe on this planet, I’ll find one you do feel safe on.”

“I feel so safe, I’m going back to sleep even though it’s almost eleven, probably,” I chuckled. “My eyelids feel so heavy.”

“Rest well. Heartville isn’t going anywhere,” Cobalt said and kissed my forehead.

Chapter Fourteen

Both of the other omegas and Baby Robin were out cold by the time we arrived in Heartville under the cover of night. Once we had them all settled into their bedrooms, I expected Teal to lead me to his. The house smelled like the triplets from top to bottom and in someways that scent was starting to smell a lot like home. Only, Teal didn’t lead me to his bedroom. He left a note on the fridge for the others and led me out the back door. I wasn’t against rolling around in the grass but even in the dark the town thrummed with folks coming and going and I wasn’t familiar with the surroundings or the neighbors.

“I called Liam before we left. He’s the first mate of Heartville and if you need something done quickly, he’s usually the guy to talk to. Here they have a concept they call ‘matingmoon houses.’ Basically, houses that are fully functional and kept stocked up just for newly met mates to ‘vacation’ at. I figured we could finally use some privacy. We’ll be just down the street from the others. We should be able to literally hear them if they yell but we’re also close to the rest of our family and a lot of friends.”

“You’re less guarded here,” I observed. “You’re not as tense.”

“Heartville does that to us. Don’t get me wrong. We have security here, but everyone watches out for everyone. It’s still by permission only for people to visit or live here. It makes life a lot easier. You know who your neighbors are and most of the time you know why they moved here. So, I figured we’d clean up and unpack what little we brought with us. Then we could get some sleep and tomorrow we could start our matingmoon.”
