Creepy and Creepier to pen their own tall tale.

The pair, otherwise known as Eerie and Curious Daniels, have released a statement they are following in their late father’s footsteps and have written a book. What they are calling a ‘creative non-fiction’ account of his death. The twins are currently serving twenty-year sentences for killing their father before attempting to frame their stepmother for the crime.

Their mother, Sarah Daniels, is serving her own ten-year sentence in a separate facility for attempting to cover up the crime. The Daniels twins are also serving concurrent five-year sentences for aggravated assault after locking their step-mother in a box and attempting to set her on fire. No release date for the book has been given.

“Well, that’s interesting,” I say after I finish. “Think they’ll do it?”

“I think those two would do anything to keep their names in people’s minds.”

The press coined the girls “creepy and creepier” during their trial when neither showed any emotion about or remorse for the crime. Their bail was set at three-hundred seventy-five thousand dollars each. I was tempted to pay it. If only because it was Harrison’s money, not mine, and I believe he would have done it had they killed someone else. But in the end, they were so nasty to me when I tried to visit them in jail, I opted against it. That was two years ago and in some ways, it still feels like yesterday. Ty has asked that we cut them from our lives completely and at this point, I’m okay with that.

I watch him as he scatters some puffs on the table for Autumn to eat. This big, beautiful, burly man taking such care with his tiny daughter, it warms my heart every time I see it..

He proposed soon after Curious and Eerie were arrested with the same ring from so long ago. I was touched that he’d kept it. He was upset for a while because the diamond is about one-tenth the size of my ring from Harrison, but I couldn’t love it more. It means more to me than anything I’ve ever been given in my life.

“What time are people getting here?” he asks, scooting his chair back and pulling me into his lap. He wraps his arms around my waist from behind, nuzzles my neck with his chin.

We’re having a small party for Autumn today; she doesn’t even realize it’s her birthday even though we keep telling her. She’ll have a good time even if the party ends up being more for us than her.

“Couple hours.”

“What do I have to do?”

“Grill, be charming, keep the fridge stocked with beer.”

We bought a house near the beach in Seaside that we could fix up, which Ty has been doing in his spare time. He’s most proud of his outdoor kitchen, so anytime he gets the chance to grill, he’s happy. He became a partner in his friend’s security firm (from Seattle) and opened a division here that he runs with two guys working for him. And he’s been slowly trying to accept the fact that maybe his brother did die from an accidental overdose, since he’s yet to find proof otherwise; but it hasn’t been easy.

“Autumn.”

She looks up at him with a huge smile on her face. “Dada.”

Ty chuckles. “You want to take a nap?”

She shakes her head vigorously.

“Not even for Daddy?”

More shaking.

“What if I say please?”

Erratic shaking that makes her baby fine blonde hair stick out at the ends.

“Daddy needs time with Mommy.”

“No nap!” she cries.

I turn in his lap so I’m facing him, wrapping my arms around his neck. “She told you.”

“I feel scolded and denied,” he says, leaning in to capture my lips with his. A soft, lingering kiss that makes my toes curl.

“Poop!” Autumn announces, followed by a grunt.

Ty groans. “I got it.” He lifts me off his lap, then sweeps her up from her chair and swings her down the hall toward her room, making airplane noises. She giggles the entire time, making me smile. Happiness has been a long time coming.

I ended up selling the three properties Harrison I shared together: the Lake Oswego, Seaside, and Seattle houses. I donated the proceeds to the children’s literacy fund in Harrison’s name.
