“He’s engaged to AshLynn,” I argue.

“They’ve been engaged for a hot minute. It will never last,” Zach counters.

A girl can only hope.

“Don’t be that way, Zach. It’s not nice.”

“Nice? Have you met your half sister? I’m a realist, baby.”

“I don’t know, I think she’s really into him.”

“Puh-lease.” He rolls his eyes.

I look at him, pleading with him to see my side of things. Otherwise he’ll just get my hopes up and then I’ll be disappointed. And I really hate being disappointed.

“Fine,” he says. “I will give you my assessment after breakfast once I’ve seen them interact in person.”

“I’m going to take a shower.”

“Yes, please, stinky exercise girl.”

“Ohmigod, do I smell bad?” If I do and Mason smelled me, I will never recover. Not ever. I raise my arm to sniff my pit. It’s not bad. Not great either though. It was that damn run after P-Tink. Mason was running, how come he didn’t stink?

Because he’s perfect.

“Not funny, Zach,” I tell him.

“Hurry along anyway, I’ll be here planning all the ways you can make it up to me when I’m right about Mason being into you.”

I wave my hand over my head and disappear into the house.

Brain, you have been overruled and are instructed to disregard that last statement as it does not apply.

Right?
