“Clearly,” the first person says.

“The other one is out of order,” the second person in line says.

“Sorry,” I hear Sadie say from behind me.

“Sorry,” I echo.

I take Sadie’s hand while she hops down from the toilet and follows me out. The first person in line barges past into the bathroom. I can’t look the people in the eye. If I do, they’ll see I’m not sorry. Because I’m not. I’ve got my girl back and I’m on top of the fucking world.

“Sadie?!” I look up and see the girl that was next to me at the gate counter, her eyes wide and her mouth hanging open. “Did you fuck the insanely hot guy from the airport in the bathroom?”

“Tenley!” Sadie exclaims.

“Well?” Tenley has her hands on her hips, her face expectant.

“Tenley, this is Ethan. Ethan, this is my best friend, Tenley.”

“Ohmigod!” Tenley rolls her eyes. “Of course the insanely hot guy is Ethan. I should have known. I’m so jealous.” She moves in and hugs Sadie, then kisses her on the cheek. “I am so proud of you. The plane bathroom, oh, the mile-high club. Even I haven’t done that.”

She turns. “That’s impressive, you got it on in the bathroom and with a cast. From the looks of Sadie, you did good too. Oh, and nice to meet you.” She holds her hand out to shake mine, then narrows her eyes. “Wait, did you wash after? How about a hug?” She moves in and gives me a distant hug.

“I didn’t even have to pee,” she says. “I heard someone complain about someone else screwing in the bathroom and I wanted to come listen.”

“Could you hear us?” Sadie asks.

“Nah, not really. I mean, a bit at the end, but that was it,” Tenley says. Sadie turns and buries her head in my chest.

“Ohmigod,” she moans.

“Yep, that was the part we heard.” Tenley smirks.

The bathroom door opens and the two people ahead of Tenley in line switch places.

“I hope you are ashamed of yourself,” the woman says to Sadie and me.

“It was in the name of love,” Tenley says. “You have no idea what these two have been through. It’s a tragic story. You should be ashamed of yourself for shaming them.”

The woman looks at Tenley drily and then turns to go back to her seat. Tenley looks at us and shrugs.

The flight attendant approaches. “The captain has turned the seat belt sign back on, I need you all to return to your seats, we are about to begin our descent into San Soloman.”

I turn to Sadie. “I love you.” I kiss her quickly. “I’ll see you soon.” I kiss her again then turn to find my seat.

I hear Tenley say behind me. “And he’s got a great ass. You are one lucky bitch, Sadie-soo. If I didn’t love you so much I would hate you.”
