Emersyn
One year later
I staredat the crystal blue waters off the coast of Greece, the perfect destination for our honeymoon.
Last week, we were married in front of all of our family and friends. I spent the past several months planning every last detail of my wedding, from the DJ to the flowers, to the dress, I wanted everything to be perfect.
My parents helped finance and my close friends from high school helped plan and take over some bridesmaids’ tasks.
It was a ton of work and even a ton more stress, but it was all worth it in the end. Our wedding was beautiful, a day I’d always remember, and also one of the most fun. From drinks to dancing well into the night, it’ll be an experience I won’t forget soon.
Axel’s hand trailed along my side as we sat side by side at the hotel’s infinity pool, looking out over the coast of Greece. The weather is perfect, mild and warm, without any rain in the forecast.
“Want to swim? Or go back inside?” Axel wiggled his eyebrows at me. That was basically all we did here. Swim, eat, fuck, sleep, lay out in the sun, repeat.
But for some reason, I wasn’t feeling too hot today.
My stomach was queasy, and I barely got down any breakfast. I also was extremely tired. I chalked it up to a little virus, or maybe just everything catching up to me after such a busy year, but I wasn’t sure.
“I think I’m going to go back inside. But not for sex. For a nap.”
“A nap? Are you okay?”
“I’m not feeling too hot today. A little queasy, a little tired. Maybe just exhaustion from everything this past year. A nap should do the trick.”
“Okay, want me to come with you?”
“Nah, that’s okay. Unless you feel like joining me later.” I stood up from the lounge chair and a sudden wave of dizziness overtook me. It was so strong and fast, it knocked me right down, and I fell into a sitting position on the chair.
“What the hell.” I said. Axel was already on his feet. He scooped me into his arms.
“I’ll take you to bed. But first, you need some crackers and juice. Get that blood sugar going.”
I groaned. “The thought of crackers makes me want to hurl.”
“You need something to settle your stomach, love.”
As Axel carried me inside, a thought popped into my head and caused sheer panic.
When was the last time I got my period?
Think, Em, think…
I couldn’t remember. Was it before the wedding? Shit, shit, shit.
“What’s wrong?” Axel asked, his eyes searching mine.
“Nothing, why?”
“You went as pale as a ghost. What is it?”
“I think I might be pregnant.”
“Oh fuck.”
“Yeah. Oh fuck.”
“I’ll see if they have a pharmacy around here.” Axel said as he sat me down gently on the bed.
