"Yeah and it was all romantic as shit. I've got moves, Cupcake."
"I'm sure you have, Lee."
Silence settles between us as I drink my coffee. I keep my eyes on Letty, relieved to see that she's buying this little catch-up session because I can see her concern for me beginning to leave her.
I hate how everyone's been looking at me recently, like I'm a ticking time bomb. They're right of course, that's exactly what I am. What they're unaware of though, is that now that I've found Macie and got Brett exactly where I want him, that fuse is shorter than ever.
Years of patience, of waiting for vengeance on those who have wronged me, who hurt me, who used me are finally going to come to an end. And I can't fucking wait.
"I'm taking her out again on Friday," I confess.
"Wow, who are you and what have you done with Leon Dunn?"
"You know more than anyone that the right girl can change a guy."
"Hell yeah, I do."
And right on cue, there's a soft knock at the front door and when I look up, I find Kane standing there already smiling at Letty.
She rushes over and lets him in.
He immediately pulls her into his arms and shoves his tongue down her throat.
I'm instantly taken right back to the hallway with Macie and my cock swells once more. Fuck if I didn't want her to invite me in, even though I knew it would never happen.
She's not that girl, and despite the fact I'm not in this for the reasons she thinks I am. I like that she's different. I like the challenge. After all these years, I think I'd have been disappointed if I got to fuck her over right away.
Clearing my throat makes fuck all of a difference, both of them totally ignore me.
"Feel free to go at it if you want, you know I'll enjoy the show but I'm not sure the diners in the restaurant across the street want that kind of entertainment with their meals.
"Fuck you, Dunn," Kane mutters, flipping me off over Letty's shoulder. "You've had your time with my girl."
"Hell yeah, I have," I say with a wide smile and a wink, knowing that it'll wind him the fuck up.
"Did you want anything specific, Dunn?"
"He came to tell me about his girl," Letty interrupts our banter.
"A girl? She must be brave."
"I don't know about brave but she sounds like a sweet one."
"Then she must be stupid if she hasn’t run a mile already."
"You're funny," I say, sliding from the bench and stealing Letty from Kane's side. "Thanks for the coffee, Cupcake."
Kane growls like a wild animal when I drop the quickest kiss to Letty's lips.
"Watch it, Dunn. I know some of your secrets, remember?"
I hold his eyes knowing that I can trust him with what he knows. There might have been a time when I wouldn't have trusted him with anything, but I love Letty like a sister, and I trust her, so that now extends to Kane. Plus, he did me a solid by hooking me up with the Harris brothers to help out with my little issue with my father.
"Should I be worried about whatever this is?" Letty asks, looking between the two of us.
"Nah, the only thing you should be worrying about is the fact Leon's found a girl."
"Right, on that note, I'm out," I say, moving toward the door.
