"Okay fine," he says, coming to a stop behind me in the line. Wrapping his arms around my waist, he brushes his lips against the shell of my ear. "I want to whisper all the wicked things I want to do to you in your ear until you're squirming in your seat and barely able to keep it together with how badly you need my cock inside you."

"Kane," I breathe, already feeling the effects of his dirty words.

"Oh look, we're next," he says as if the last few seconds didn't actually happen.

He drags me forward on shaky legs and we get secured into the car before being slowly lifted into the air. The view of the ocean emerges before us, the rippling waves catching the afternoon sun. The sounds of the fair beneath us begin to drift away until it's just the two of us.

I blow out a long breath as contentment settles within me. Kane pulls me to his side and wraps his arm around my shoulders, holding me tight.

"Can we just stay here forever?" I whisper into the silence.

Kane tenses for a beat, both of us more than aware that everything is going to change again tomorrow.

"Maybe he won't do anything," I suggest, hoping that by saying the words out loud that it'll come true.

"Princess, I love your positivity but he's not going to let this go easily."

"W-what do you think he'll do?"

"Honestly, I don't know. I've got Reid on my side, he's got some cards to play to ensure it goes as smoothly as possible, but Victor can be unpredictable at the best of times."

"You're… you're going to be s-safe though, right?"

"Of course, Let." He holds me tighter and presses a kiss to the top of my head.

He's lying and we both know it, but I don't say anything, I can't. The reality is just too depressing to even consider.

As we start descending on our final lap, I spot Harley and Kyle. They'd wandered off to go on a rollercoaster a while ago. I wave at them to get their attention and when we find them once we're off the ride, we agree to head off and find some dinner.

"Are you heading back to Maddison tonight?" Kyle asks innocently as he slides his soda back across the table.

"Um…" Kane hesitates.

Leaning over, I whisper in his ear. "Tell him everything. He can take it."

"Shit," Kane mutters, scrubbing his hand down his face.

"What's wrong?"

Kane looks around briefly as if he's checking no one is close enough to overhear this conversation before he leans across the table.

"I-I can't go back. It's over."

"What do you mean it's over? You got into MKU on a full-ride. That doesn't just go up in smoke."

"It does when the one who helps secure it for you is Victor Harris," Kane admits.

Kyle visibly pales while Harley's face hardens.

"Fucking hell, man. I knew you were doing some dodgy shit. But Harris, really?"

"How do you think I did all this, Ky? Got us a decent place to live, ensured you could restart your life like you have. I can assure you that the money didn't grow on a fucking tree."

"I know, I know. I just… I convinced myself that you'd found another way."

"I'm a Creek kid, Ky. There is no other way."

Kyle's jaw tics in anger. "There is another way, we're living it right now."
