"We weren't really in the mood anyway," West adds.
"You sure brought the entertainment though."
"I would say you're welcome but…" I trail off.
"How are you feeling?" Ella asks sympathetically.
"Better than I should." I guess I sobered up before falling asleep so I’ve managed to avoid the worst of my hangover.
"Hungry?" Violet asks, pushing a plate of pastries in my direction.
"Thank you," I mutter, picking one up.
"I'm… um…" I point to the door. "I need to try to fix a few things."
I can see curiosity as to who exactly I'm heading to see on all their faces but none of them ask, they just nod or smile sadly as I leave them to it.
By the time I pull up at the Dunn's house, I'm a nervous wreck. Not only am I going to have to face them after what happened between us all, but I'm also going to have to look all their roommates in the eyes too.
Blowing out a long breath, I climb from the car before I convince myself to go back to the dorms and hide.
Not wanting to wake anyone, I forgo the doorbell and just invite myself in. There's a good chance they wouldn't let me in anyway if they saw it was me.
The sound of talking comes from the living room, so I head that way in the hope of finding Luca in there.
I come to a stop in the doorway, the sight before me literally rendering me speechless.
I must make a noise because after a second, every set of eyes turns to me.
"Letty!" Shane, the twins' younger brother, announces happily as my eyes remain locked on Luca, who's cradling his baby niece.
Luca's eyes lift to mine but I see no happiness within them and my heart shatters all over again. His eye is black and swollen and his cheek has a nasty bruise on it from Kane’s fists last night. My stomach turns over at the thought of them fighting because of me.
"Hey," I say, finally looking at Shane when the tension in the room begins to get heavy. "She's gorgeous."
Shane's smile lights up his face as he glances over at his daughter.
"Thank you." He reaches to the woman beside him. "You remember Chelsea, right?"
"Of course." I smile sweetly at her as I stand awkwardly, feeling Luca's eyes burning into me.
"What do you want, Let?" he barks, making Shane gasp in surprise.
"I-I um… was hoping we could talk," I say, awkwardly, wringing my hands together as everyone stares at me.
"Leon's upstairs if you need someone to talk to. You two seem to be close these days."
"Luc, please. It's not like that."
"No? Then what's it like because the last time I saw you two together he had his head—"
"Luca," Leon booms from behind me, cutting off his words.
I don't turn to look at Leon, although I do feel the light touch of his fingertips on my lower back as he passes me. I appreciate the support but I don't think it's going to be anywhere near enough.
"We were about to have breakfast, would you like to join us?"
"She can't," Luca answers for me.
