"The beginning," Luca urges.

I open my mouth to say something, although I'm not entirely sure what was about to come out when my door once again flies open.

The three of us look up to find Zayn standing there. His eyes wide and his chest heaving as if he's just run across campus to get here.

"Your cell fucking broken or something?" he mutters.

"What's wrong?"

He glances at both Luca and Leon.

"It's okay."

He nods. "It's Kane. He's in the hospital."

"What?" I screech, jumping up from my spot on the bed. "What happened?"

"I don't know. Harley just called to tell me she and Kyle were on their way to Maddison ER. Her cell cut out before I got the details."

"Holy shit," I breathe. My body moving on autopilot as I pull on a pair of Chucks and grab my purse, reaching for my car keys. "Fuck. I don't have a car." I look between the three of them, half expecting them to point-blank refuse my next request. "Can one of you take me to the hospital?"

"You want to go to him?" Luca asks, disbelief written all over his face.

"I need to. This is my fault."

"I hardly think—"

"It's my fault," I say firmly.

He was so angry. He never should have got behind the wheel.

I should have stopped him.

If he'd just let me explain.

"I'll take you," Leon says, “I drove here.” He flicks a look at Luca knowing that he didn't. "But you need to put some pants on." He nods to my thighs, his lips pressing into a thin line at what he sees there.

I look down at my bare legs. The hoodie is covering the worst of the marks but they can all clearly see the evidence of the time Kane and I spent together.

If I weren't so numb, I might be embarrassed by it.

"Fucking hell, Let," Zayn mutters, taking in the marks.

"Leave it, Zayn," I bark. Really not in any mood to get into it with my brother.

Dragging on a pair of leggings, I shove my feet into my shoes once more and walk to the door.

"Come on then," I snap at Leon.

"Uh…" He looks at Luca and Zayn.

"Leave them. I need to be there now."

I stalk out of my room on shaky legs.

Every set of eyes turn toward me, but I keep my eyes focused on where I'm going. It's not until I start running down the stairs that I realize that Leon is actually following me.

He steps up beside me and threads his fingers through mine.
