Kane: You're a liar.
Princess: Then let me explain.
I stare down at her words. I know that letting her do just that needs to happen. But I'm not sure I'm ready to hear any of it.
I look around the vast auditorium and suddenly feel as if the walls are closing in on me. My body heats and my chest starts to heave with my need for fresh air.
Fuck this.
Grabbing my stuff, I make the people sitting beside me move as I make my way to the end of the aisle.
The commotion I cause is enough to force Letty to turn around and look at me. The second our eyes connect, it's like someone's smashed me in the chest with a baseball bat. It's just another reason why I need to get out of here.
"Is there a problem, sir?"
"No, I'm sorry. I just…"
I march from the room, leaving the gossip behind me.
I walk to the parking lot on autopilot but when I get there, I'm reminded that my car is a fucking wreck and unless I call for a fucking Uber or one of the guys then I'm stuck.
"FUCK," I bellow, my voice echoing around the silence around me.
Deciding against leaving, I suck in a lungful of air and head for the coffee shop.
Coffee fixes everything, right?
I find an empty table in the back, hoping that I can hide for a bit.
I pull my cap down low and sink down but apparently it's not enough because not ten minutes later does a shadow fall over me.
"Is this seat taken?"
Reluctantly, I look up, finding a familiar face.
"Yeah, it is."
"And lucky for me, they don't seem to be here yet, so…"
She drops her ass to the chair and rests her elbows on the table as she stares at me.
"Hi." She smiles, but it's forced as her eyes scan my face. "I don't think we've been formally introduced. I'm Ella."
I keep my face blank as I stare at her.
"Right?"
"I live with Letty."
I widen my eyes, hoping it'll encourage her to get to the point.
"R-right well," she stutters, her nerves starting to get the better of her under my stare. She swallows and squares her shoulder. "You need to sort your shit out."
"I'm sorry?" I rear back a little, unsure if I'm pissed off or impressed with her little outburst.
"Letty is my friend and you're hurting her with your games and bullshit. Stop it," she warns in her harshest voice.
A smirk tugs at my lips but I just about manage to stop it from spreading.
