"Holy fucking shit, that was tight," Ella exclaims as we make our way out of the stadium once the game is over and the guys have headed off the field.

"Yeah, it was," I agree, my head still lost in my own thoughts.

"I can't believe that after all these years supporting the Dunns you have no fucking clue what you just watched," Micah shouts, sounding utterly astounded.

"I've tried, it's just not my thing. I'm sure they'd be the same if I forced them to the ballet or something every weekend."

He laughs at me as we pour out toward the parking lot.

Spotting Kane's car, I tell the others that I'll meet them at the party later and head over to wait for him.

I rest my ass on the hood of his baby and watch as everyone else leaves and the whole place slowly becomes deserted.

Eventually, the team emerges from the back entrance of the stadium.

There's a pretty huge crowd waiting for them, most of whom seem to be female. I roll my eyes, almost able to taste the desperation of the jersey chasers from here.

I see Luca and Leon emerge before they get sucked into the crowd. I'm too far away for them to spot me. I'm pretty sure I'm the last person Luca wants to see right now anyway.

We'll talk soon, I'm sure. I just want to let him come to grips with all of this in his own time. Football is the most important thing for him to be focusing on right now.

The moment I spot Kane emerging from the building, my entire body tenses and I push myself from the car as he scans the lot and finds me.

A smile curls at his lips as he picks up the pace to get to me faster. His movements aren't as smooth as usual and I wonder how much damage he did to himself by playing that last fifteen minutes when we all know he shouldn't have.

He's almost at me when I sense someone approaching me from behind. But I don't turn around, I'm too lost in Kane to even care who it might be.

That is until he notices whoever it is and his whole expression changes from one of excitement to one of pure horror.

I'm forcefully pushed aside as whoever it is passes me. If it weren't for Kane's car then I'm sure I'd have ended up on the floor from the strength behind the shove.

"Kane, oh my God, you were incredible. I told you that Coach should have let you start." Her sickly sweet voice makes me wince but a weird sense of familiarity washes through me.

Righting myself, I turn to find a blonde curling herself into Kane's side.

But not just any blonde. The blonde from the coffee shop yesterday.

An angry growl fills my ears and it's not until she turns her blue eyes on me that I realize it came from me.

"Oh I'm sorry, sweetie. I didn't mean to shove you, I was just so excited to get to my man here."

"N-no, Letty. Listen—"

"You," I growl, ignoring Kane's attempt to say something.

She has the audacity to smile sweetly at me. "Oh, you're the girl from the coffee shop." She pretends to look confused but I see through it. She planned it. All of it.

I stand tall as I stare at her, my fists curling at my sides as my stomach churns at the memory of what I overheard of her phone call comes back to me.

She's pregnant, and not by her husband. By a college student.

No.

My eyes shoot to Kane who's trying to push the woman away from him.

"Letty, no. It's not what it looks like. We're not—"

I stare into his eyes, allowing him to watch my heart shatter into a million pieces.
