I think back to Tuesday's class when he spent the entire time trying to feel me up while we were hidden in the shadows, and I can't help wishing that we could go back to that.
Needing some caffeine, I head toward the coffee shop and order myself a skinny vanilla latte with an extra shot and a cupcake with sprinkles. It's not the same as having them with Luca and Leon but I guess it'll have to do before I spend the afternoon trying to distract myself with assignments.
The place is packed but lucky for me a couple get up right in front of me and I quickly snag their table.
I haven’t even had a chance to pull the wrapper off the cupcake when someone helps themselves to the chair beside me.
"Do you mind?" a blonde woman whispers, pausing the conversation she was having with someone on her cell and pointing at the chair she's already decided she's sitting in.
"Sure," I say and watch as she finally lowers her ass into it.
"I know," she says, "I'm going to have to tell him soon. He's going to start noticing."
I focus on my cake but I can't help eavesdropping on her conversation, seeing as she's basically invited me into it.
"Thirteen weeks. I had my first scan last Wednesday."
The person on the other end speaks as my heart aches for the incredible experience this woman's just had seeing her baby for the first time. I remember that moment well.
"Yeah, it's definitely not my husband's."
My eyes widen at her confession.
"It's been like… six months at least, but why would I care when I've got a college guy taking care of me instead."
Silence.
"Oh yeah, I'll totally leave him. I just need to tell the dad first, make sure I've got somewhere to live."
They chat for a few more minutes about this woman's plans and I do my best to stop listening but in the end, I give up even trying, it's better than watching the TV.
I'm just finishing my cupcake when she finally ends her call and lowers her cell to the table.
"I'm so sorry, I just really needed to get off my feet."
Realizing she's talking to me, I look up into her light blue eyes and take in her flawless face for the first time. She's breathtakingly beautiful and I can't help wondering what's wrong with her husband for not touching her for all those months.
"O-oh, it's okay. I wasn't waiting for anyone or anything."
"Great. I'm just struggling with the worst morning sickness." She pulls a bottle of water from her bag and takes a sip. "It's exhausting."
"Well… um, congratulations."
She smiles at me, her head tilting to the side as if she actually cares about my words. "Thank you. I'm really excited about it."
I bet others aren't going to be,I think to myself.
"I should really get going. Thank you so much for the seat."
"You’re… welcome," I mutter when I realize that she's already gone.
"Hey," Ella says, bounding toward me. "New friend?" she asks, watching the woman disappear through the doors.
"Nope."
"Ugh, I've just been given the most insane assignment. It's going to take like all weekend," she complains, dumping her bags on the floor. "You want another?" she asks, nodding at my coffee.
"Y-yeah, sure."
