“Yes, it’s amazing. I’ll have to show you,” I say, before going on to explain her design, trying to do her work the justice it deserves. He sits, listens and smiles at me the whole time.

Before I know it, the bottle is empty and I’m feeling suitably drunk.

“Excuse me, I need to visit the ladies.” I think it comes out perfectly fine but Blake instantly starts helping me down from the stool, so maybe it didn’t sound as sober as I thought.

I make my way to the toilets on slightly wobbly legs. I do what I’ve got to do before touching up my lipstick, running my fingers through my hair and giving my boobs a wiggle to get them looking perky. I want him to notice, damn it. I want him to continue looking at me like he has been all night. I don’t think anyone has ever given me the attention he has. I can’t help craving it.

“You okay?” he asks when I make it back to the table. I nod as I perch myself up on the stool. “Would you like another, or…” he trails off.

“Let’s head back.”

“Oh, sure, okay,” he says, his face dropping.

“Thank you for tonight. It’s been amazing.” I grab his hand as I say it and squeeze to emphasise my words.

“You’re welcome.”

Blake grabs my coat from the back of the chair and once again helps me in, his fingers brushing against any bit of skin he can find. Once I’m ready, I grab my bag and go to step towards the entrance. What I don’t expect is to feel Blake’s arm come around my waist and pull me to him. My heart pounds as I feel his hot and hard body pressed up against mine.

We walk the short distance to the taxi rank before jumping in the back of one, and Blake rattles of Aunt Addy’s address.

We’ve been driving and sat in a comfortable silence for quite a while when I hear Blake let out a large breath. When I look over at him, I see his head is resting back against the headrest with his eyes shut.

“Are you okay?” I ask, thinking maybe he’s had too much to drink.

His head rolls towards me and when he opens his eyes, my breath catches. “That all depends on what happens next.”

“I…uh…” I don’t have an answer—actually, that’s not true.

I have two answers.

It just depends what the question is: what do I want, or what’s the right thing to do?

When I don’t say any more, Blake turns his head again so he’s looking forward, but I feel his giant palm settle on my thigh. It’s not too high but still it has some serious effect on my body.

“Just here,” I hear Blake say. I was so lost in my thoughts that I hadn’t noticed we’d pulled on to Aunt Addy’s street.

“Thank you,” I say, before handing the driver some money and getting out. I’ve no idea if Blake’s going to follow me or take the taxi home. I try not to put too much thought into it as I walk up towards the front door and slide the key in the lock.

“Can I come in?” I hear a deep, gravelly voice ask behind me.

My heart starts to race and my temperature soars but I don’t say anything. I just unlock the door and step inside. Leaving my coat and shoes on, I walk straight to the kitchen to fill up the kettle. I’ve no idea what I’m doing; all I know is that I need to be doingsomething.

I’m stopped when I feel his hands on my waist and his breath across my neck. “Addison, what are you doing?”

I swallow as I try to form some words but my mouth is suddenly dry and my brain isn’t functioning.

Blake’s hands slide around to my front and begin untying the belt around my coat before he starts working on the buttons running down the front. When his hands brush over my breasts, I can’t help taking a sharp intake of breath as bolts of lightning head straight to my core.

“Do you have any idea how beautiful you are?” he whispers in my ear before pushing my coat from my shoulders. “I haven’t been able to take my eyes off you all night.”

His lips connect softly with the base of my neck, sending goosebumps across my heated flesh.

“And this zip’s been driving me crazy,” he says as I feel him start playing with the tiny bit of metal at the base of my neck.

The thought of him undoing it has me panting.

“I think that’s what you intended though, isn’t it, Addison?”
