She nods. Stops. Squints like she's about to throw up. "At least—" She coughs. "Be stupid or something."

"Something about how statistics are lies."

"Well, yeah, but it's really more complicated than that. They're objectively true, but the way you look at and present data is subjective."

"Not stupid enough?"

She shakes her head. "That was practically perceptive."

"Damn. I didn't realize."

That earns a glare. "Of course, you realized."

"Come on." I help her onto the couch.

She looks up at me with a tiny smile. When I smile back, she turns her lip corners down. "You're being too cute."

"Too cute?"

"Yeah, just look at you." She draws a circle around me with her finger. "All tall and smiley and happy."

"You're letting me take care of you."

"Oh."

"You needed help, so you called."

"It's not too much?"

"For the mother of my child?"

Her frown disappears instantly. She beams. Catches herself. "No, I'm… this is a terrible condition."

"The first trimester is supposed to be rough."

She bites her lip. "You're still being understanding."

"How about this?Daredevilis an amazing show except for the fight scenes. They're trying too hard."

She stares back at me. "That's the best you can do?"

"I can't lie to you."

"You don't think that." She sets her bowl to the side. Pulls her legs into my lap. "Did you see that hallway sequence? That was amazing."

"Amazingly showy."

Her eyes fill with disbelief. "And I suppose your tattooed arms are incredibly subtle?"

"You tell me."

"Ugh." Her gaze shifts to my arms. "I want to say something bad about them."

"Do your worst."

"They're just so—"

"Say anything. About my arms, my hair, my eyes, my personality."
