That we were going to talk about the day everything changed.

For a while, I was happy. Hopeful.

Then I showed it to him and he burst into tears.I'm so sorry, Jules. I didn't plan it this way. We were working together. You know I've had all those long nights. She's so smart. But she's funny too. And tender.

She doesn't flinch when I touch her.

She wants me.

I thought I could end it, but I'm in love with her.

I'm sorry.

I didn't mean for this to happen.

He didn't even have the courtesy to declare our relationship over. I had to do the dirty work.

"Jules?" Griff hip checks me. "Where are you going?"

"Nowhere." I'm here. At this club. Our third club. It's quieter. More low key. Filled with guys in jeans, not guys in suits.

The music is better.

A little better.

All that house music sounds the same to me.

I force my gaze to the bachelor party guys. Are they celebrating or commiserating? Hard to say. I'm not sure which is more accurate. Not anymore.

"Somewhere," Griff says.

I shake my head.

"Jules, if you lie to me, I'll torture you."

"I'm not dancing with some guy who's already regretting his wedding."

Griff nods. "What about the tall friend?"

"I don't care about height."

"Uh-huh." He nods to the blond guy in the corner. He is tall. And handsome. Like some kind of Nordic king. "He's hot."

"He's not un-hot."

"Ask him to dance."

"You sure you don't want to join? Maybe tell a story about your favorite role play?" I tease.

"I'm always partial to teacher-student."

"Oh my God."

"I know it's a cliché, but those school girl skirts are fucking hot. And one of those white blouses, tied at her chest, nothing under it."

"Like our school uniform?" I ask.

"Yeah." His smile spreads over his cheeks. "Probably explains it."
