To the right, a woman in a schoolgirl outfit skips around a pole.

To the left, a woman slides off her black thong. She hooks her leg around the pole, turns herself upside down, and spins.

Naked and upside down.

God, it's weird. Amazing—how is she doing that—but strange. What with her complete lack of clothing.

The bachelor party heads to a booth on the right. Once again, Adrian motions for me to sit next to him.

Griff's fingers curl into my wrist. His thumb brushes the ink covering my skin.

Then the scars.

It's like he's screaminglisten to me Jules. I know you. I love you. I'm not letting anything bad happen to you.

Not that he's ever used that word.

Or that I want him to.

It's just—

"I need a drink." That's it. That's all it is.

"I'll get it for you, sweetie," Adrian says. "What are you drinking?"

"Tequila and iced tea," I say.

His expression fills with distaste, but he still turns toward the bar.

"Vodka straight, for me," Griff says. He chuckles as Adrian moves toward the bar.

"Are you really letting him buy your drink?" I ask.

He nods. "If that's the price he wants to pay to seduce an engaged woman."

"I'm not actually engaged," I say.

"He doesn't know that." Griffin slides his arm around my waist. Pulls me closer.

There's no reason for it.

No explanation.

But I don't want an explanation.

I want to sink into his body. I want to stare into his eyes. I want to kiss him like the goddamned ship is going down.

"Hi." A chipper woman interrupts my train of thought. With her bright pink bra and panty set, matching nails, bleach blond hair, and massive fake boobs, she looks like a cheerleader in a teen movie.

She's pretty.

And, God, her boobs are enormous.

But Griff doesn't check out her cleavage.

His eyes stay glued to me.

"You really want to stay here?" he asks.
