This is candidate thirteen. He's as unacceptable as one through twelve. Too tall or too short or too thin or too buff or too redheaded or too douchey.
I scan the bar—we're in the lounge, at a crimson couch halfway between the bar and the dance floor—for hotties.
There are a lot of people here. Men in suits, women in cocktail dresses, bachelorette parties in matching t-shirts.
And some clean cut dudes at the bar.
"How about his friend?" I point to the guy standing next to the shorty. He's a head taller and he's wearing a perfectly normal black suit.
Jules scrunches her nose in distaste.
"What's wrong with him?" I ask.
"He's just not it." Her dress hikes up her thigh as she leans forward. It shows off inches of smooth, soft skin.
Fuck, have her legs always been that long?
I try to pry my gaze from her, but it won't go. Her white dress flows over her lush hips. It hugs her chest and waist, showing off her chest.
"I gotta be honest," Dean says. "I'm about to give up on you two."
Chloe whispers something in his ear.
He shakes his head. "Even with that."
"Ten more minutes." Chloe offers him her hand. "That's it."
"Am I supposed to shake?" he asks.
"You can go." Jules crosses one leg over the other. Which brings her dress another inch up her thigh. "I don't need help."
"You do," I say.
Dean and Chloe nodyou do.
"Maybe you just don't understand standards." She sucks her drink through her straw.
"You're just asking him to dance." I'm making sure she comes tonight, but one thing at a time.
"Oh my God, Griff, you insisted I fuck someone a million times, and now I'm supposed to believe you'll be happy if I ask a guy to dance and leave it at that?" she asks.
Chloe shakes her headyou're so into her.
Dean whispers something in her ear.
She laughs.
No doubt it's something about how me and Jules are madly in love.
They can think that all they want.
Jules and I know the truth. That's what matters.
"He's got a douche face." Jules motions to the taller guy. Who has a perfectly normal face. At least as far as we can tell from here.
"Dance with your back to him," I say.
She looks at me like I'm crazy.
