Her second favorite band.

My lips curl into a smile.

Her cheeks flush. "Why do you keep looking at me like that?"

"'Cause you're Jules."

"If you want to say something about how this song is anything less than great, you can keep it to yourself."

My smile widens.

Her teeth sink into her bottom lip. "I… uh…"

"We can do normal. If that's what you want. We can head to Coke World and you can mix your diet with some disgusting flavor."

She nods. "I only do that at movies."

"Uh-huh."

"Then we can wander through the fake Paris streets and the fake Venice canals and make fun of the people paying thirty bucks to ride in a gondola."

"We can."

"We can do all that sightseeing shit you like."

"Okay."

"As friends."

Her eyes meet mine. "Can we?"

"Or—" I hold up my left hand.

"I…"

"We can do it as husband and wife."

"What does that mean?"

"I'm not sure." I bring my hand to her waist. "But I'm pretty sure friends don't get to do this." I pull her closer.

She nods. "They don't."

"Or this." I bring my hand to the back of her head.

She looks up at me.

I stare down at her.

Her eyelids press together. Her lips brush mine.

Fuck, she's a good kisser and she tastes like matcha and honey. It's her signature.

I pull back with a sigh. "We can stay friends if that's what you want. But it's not what I want."

She stares back at me.

"Give me a few days." I take her hand. "Please." My throat quivers. It's hard to get the words out, but I manage. "Give me a chance. Give us a chance."
