"If you want to annul this, we can."

"Oh." Her gaze travels up my body. Stomach. Chest. Shoulders. Chin. Lips. Eyes. "Do you?" Her green eyes bore into mine. They beg for something.

"Do I?"

"Want that?" Her voice is soft. Vulnerable.

I'm not sure if she wants a yes or a no. Either way, I owe her the truth.

"No." My heels sink into the carpet. "Do you?"

"This is crazy." Her gaze shifts to the windows. Her curtains are open wide. The Strip shines in the morning light.

Well, afternoon light at this point.

It's beautiful.

And really fucking bright.

"You want me to close the curtains?" I offer.

She shakes her head. "No. I think—"

"Is your head killing you?"

"Yeah." Her laugh is awkward. "It feels like someone bashed it with a baseball bat."

I can't help but chuckle.

"What?" Her gaze flits to me. She shoots me thatwhy are you teasing me, what is it you're getting atlook.

"Of course it's baseball."

She nodsof course.

I try to place what's in her expression, but I can't. "Is that a yes or a no?"

"Huh?"

"I agree. This is crazy. But that doesn't mean we need to erase it."

"What if…" Her gaze shifts to the floor. "You're my best friend, Griff."

"You're mine."

"The only person I trust." She sucks a breath through her teeth. "I… I don't want to lose that."

"Me either."

"Maybe it's better if we…" She taps her toes together. "If we forget it ever happened."

"Jules…"

Her eyes stay on the floor. "I can't lose you."

"I can't."

She presses her knees together.
