"Want to share what you're thinking?" Ethan looks to Violet. "Am I missing something?"
"Just a lot on my mind," I say.
"A lot being..." Ethan takes a sip of his drink.
Violet jumps in. "Piper officially decided to major in drama. And to pursue acting." Violet winks at me. "She was telling me earlier."
That's true. Sort of. Violet knows what I'm thinking. She knows it's eating me up keeping this from Ethan.
But it's not like I can blame anyone but myself.
"She's really good." Violet slides her arm around me. "I was listening to her practice earlier." She looks to Ethan. "I guess being a performer is just Strong genetics."
"You guess that?" Ethan takes her hand and pulls her into a hug. "Shouldn'tyouknow what is or isn't genetics?"
"There haven't been any long-term studies." She runs her fingers through her hair. "I have to guess."
He smiles as he presses his lips to hers.
Kit looks to me. He raises a brow and mouthsyou okay?
I nod. I'm okay. I'm great, actually. Just worried.
He pulls out his phone and taps a message.
He's texting me.
I pull out my phone to check.
Kit: You want to talk?
I look back to him and motion to Ethan and Violet's office.
Kit raises a brow.
Damn, this is difficult to communicate in text. Even if Mal, Ethan, and Violet are already on to a new subject, no longer focusing on me.
I text Kit again.
Piper: Please. Let's do it in private.
Kit: I just got here. I can't leave yet.
Piper: Once the party gets crowded no one will notice.
Kit: Until then.
He goes to slide his phone into his jeans but his eyes stay fixed on the screen.
His brow furrows.
"Excuse me." Kit motions to his phone then to Ethan and Violet. He steps outside, into the hallway, and presses the door closed.
My phone stays silent. It stays text free.
Who is he talking to?
It's not that I'm worried it's another woman.
