"You want to get dinner?"

"With you?"

"Yeah." My gaze refuses to budge from Hunter. He leans in to order his drink. Flashes the barista a wide smile. Laughs at her joke. "As a date."

"Really?" Surprise fills his voice.

"Yeah."

"Yeah. Of course." He smiles like a kid who just won a trip to space camp.

It should be flattering.

But it's flat instead.

Six month ago, I'd have been humming with ideas about how I'd rock Collin's innocent world.

Now…

My thoughts scatter as Hunter's eyes find mine.

I should hate that he's here.

But I don't.

I really, really don't.

Collin follows my gaze. Frowns.

Okay, I have to make this normal.

No. I have to make this happen. To make tomorrow happen.

"Hunter, hey." My lips curl into a smile. It's good to see him. It shouldn't be this good, but it is. "Funny seeing you here."

He chuckles. "Yeah."

Confusion spreads over Collin's face.

I introduce them and motion for Hunter to sit.

He does.

"Hunter and I work together. At Inked Hearts," I say.

"The tattoo shop in Venice?" Collin's voice gets bouncy. Well, more bouncy.

I nod.

"You work there?" he asks.

"I know." I rub my upper arms with my palms. "I'm kind of… square."

"Nobody would call you square." Collin's laugh is nervous.

"There's a running bet on what her first tattoo will be." Hunter shoots me a curious look. Like he's trying to figure out where we stand.

"Oh?" Collin gives me a slow once over. "A butterfly on your lower back?"
