The urge to stand up and put myself in front of Dana to shield her from this woman is strong, but Dana snaps back and smiles like nothing is wrong. I don't miss the way her smile doesn't reach her eyes, though. There's no missing the sparkle in her rich brown eyes when she smiles. It was the first of many things I noticed about her when we first met. Kelsey, my business partner and best friend said that I practically had my tongue dangling out of my mouth.

“Buffy.” Dana stands up and awkwardly embraces the woman. “What are you doing in my shop?”

“Your shop?” Buffy says, looking around with a judgmental look of disdain. “It’s—cute.”

"Yes, well, we strive to look—cute to our customers."

Buffy turns back to Dana. “You just might be the savior I’ve been looking for.”

“I doubt that.” Dana shakes her head.

“Yes, you must help me out.” Buffy grabs Dana’s hands in hers. “Since we’re such old friends.”

"Friends or not," Dana says, giving me an apologetic look and then turning back to Buffy. “I will need you to make an appointment if you want to put in a big order.”

“That won’t do.” She shakes her head. “The reunion is this Saturday.”

“Reunion?”

Buffy’s head rears back like she is shocked that Dana doesn’t know what she’s talking about.

“Our ten-year high school reunion.”

Judging from the blank expression on Dana’s face, she had no idea their high school reunion was happening.

“Oh, Boogie, you didn't know?" she asks innocently.

“It’s Dana.”

“What?”

“My name is Dana. Not Boogie. We aren’t sixteen anymore.”

Buffy’s eyes narrow slightly, but she plasters on her practiced smile. “Right, Dana.”

Is it weird that I'm so turned on by Dana showing this mean girl who's the boss? I love a strong woman, as long as she doesn't mind me being in charge in the bedroom. And just like that, my mind slips to the image of me bending Dana over the bed and pumping deep into her.

“Well, I'm sure that the committee sent out invites to everyone in our graduating class. But I can have my assistant get one over to you this afternoon. You do have someone to bring with you, right?" Buffy asks in an attempt to sound nonchalant, but it’s clear what she’s hoping Dana’s answer will be.

I stand up and wrap my arm around Dana’s waist and pull her into my side.

“Of course you do, babe," I say, leaning down and kissing her temple. "I wouldn't miss this for the world.”

There’s a part of me telling myself that I’m only doing this to help a good person out of a shitty situation, but if I’m being honest with myself, I’m ready to use this as an excuse to finally set in motion what I’ve wanted to do since I first met Dana. Kelsey was right when she said that I had a crush on the beautiful baker. But it's more than a crush. I can't get her out of my mind. Every time I'm around her, I have to fight my instinct to cup her face in my hands and kiss her until we both forget our names. When I’m in the shower, my mind instantly conjures up the image of her opening up the glass door and stepping in with me. The warm spray of the water dripping down every dip and curve of her curvy as fuck body.

Get ahold of yourself.

Buffy looks at me for the first time, like she’s only just noticed me. Her eyes widen a bit as she takes me in. I know who this woman is without having ever met her before. She’s the queen bee in high school who continues to strive to relive her glory days. I was a band geek that people continually looked right past, but when I finally caught up and grew into the body I have now, I don't miss the looks I get from women who would have looked right through me in the past.

“Who are you?” she asks.

Without missing a beat, I answer, “Dana’s fiancé.”

Dana tenses in my arms, but to her credit, she doesn’t show any other sign that I’m lying through my teeth.

"Well, aren't you a lucky girl, Boog—I mean, Dana.”

“I’m the lucky one,” I tell her, taking advantage of the moment to hold Dana in my arms.
