Joe quirks an eyebrow up at my answer. “I have to admit that after dealing with some of the morons that have shown interest in my daughter, you are definitely a change.”

“A good change?” I ask eagerly.

He laughs and takes another sip of his beer. “Don’t take any victory laps just yet.”

“Yes, sir.” I smile.

“Come on.” He claps me on the shoulder. “Why don’t you go see what my daughter is up to.”

I shake his hand again before I head over to the woman talking to Kara. When she turns, and our gazes lock, I swear the wattage in her smile brightens. My heart rate doubles almost instantly. I can't believe my luck to have found someone like her.

“Sebastian, I don’t know if you’ve met my friend Anna at the hotel yet.” She takes my hand and pulls me next to her.

"I don't believe I've had the pleasure," I say, holding my hand out to the woman.

Her eyes widen, and I can almost see the moment the light bulb clicks on over in her head—she recognizes me.

“You, you’re,” she sputters. “You’re Prince Eduardo.”

The cold chill of the winter wind sweeps up, and I freeze, unsure what to say.

“What?” Kara asks, looking between the two of us. “No, his name is Sebastian.”

“No,” Anna shakes her head. “I just read all about his engagement in Hot Gossip magazine. They had a picture of him on the cover, and he had the small little scar on his chin as he does."

I turn to Kara, and her eyes narrow in the tiny scar I got when Angelica threw her toy pony at me when we were little.

She steps back from me, shaking her head. “You lied to me?”

“I didn’t lie,” I say, finally finding my voice. “I just—”

“Stop! I don’t want to hear it.” She holds up her hands. “Just leave me alone.”
