My heart swells from his praise. I haven’t heard his voice, but I can imagine it while I read, smooth and slick as oil with a thick drawl.

Ugh, that reminds me of Colt. Not that idiot again!

Why couldn’t my long-distance Dom come from anywhere else? It just had to be Texas to spite me.

Rest for a moment and then drive home. When you get there, I want you to order some takeout with the money I sent. All the things you like the most. I’d wine and dine you myself, but since I can’t, this is the next best thing.

Daddy needs his pretty girl to be happy and healthy.

I run a hand through my sweat-damp hair. Does he have to be so cute now? That makes it really hard to stay mad, but I resolve to hate him for at least another five minutes.

Well, maybe two.

I peelmy gaze from the door of Hailey’s apartment building and lean back in the driver’s seat. My cock stirs as I remember perching in the window of a cheap motel across the bus station yesterday, using my rifle scope to watch Hailey on her naughty errand.

It was fun to follow her in a taxi and stalk her, but I want more than that. I need to be there with her, not just texting instructions. My plan has been set in motion, but once I’ve set my eyes on a goal, patience just ain’t my strong suit.

This morning, I stopped by the costume store and picked up a generic, gunmetal-silver skull mask with devil horns and an attached hood to hide my hair. All the cut outs and the eye holes are covered with black mesh, making my face underneath invisible.

Do you still have that buddy working for the CIA tech department?

Cody

Who did you kill? Never mind. Don’t tell me! The less I know the better.

I’ll bring the acid and you arrange a plastic tub or two to dissolve that mfer! Don’t forget the saws. Tell me when and where and I’ll be there.

I smirk. He’s being funny, but I know he means it, too, and not just because we’ve covered each other’s asses in the field for a decade.

When I joined the squad as a rookie, Cody took me under his wing. He’s a bit older and taught me everything I know about being a sniper—plus some other useful things. Like torture as a team building exercise or how to get rid of a body.

But he’s not just my spotter and my mentor. Cody is the only man I trust with my life. He’s more of a brother to me than Mike ever was.

Me

No murders. I need a voice changer.

Cody

Oh no, civilian life is getting to you! You’re so bored that you’re turning into a garden-variety stalker. Who is she?!

Me

What happened to “the less I know thebetter”?
