We sit down at a small, cozy table with a candle jar burning in the center. The dinners are as fancy as the setting. They are made for wine tasting and with the names such as Chardonnay Seafood, or Cabernet Steak, Pinot Gris Chicken Filet, all cooked and paired with the same wine.

As soon as we sit down, the waitress, a beautiful, tall brunette built like a model and dressed like a movie star, comes to us with a tray of wine samples. “Hi, I’m Adrianna, your server of the night. And these are free tastings of our winery’s new releases,” she says, smiling and pointing to the glasses. Her smile, however, freezes as soon as she meets Devin’s eyes. “Ohmygod, you are —,” she squeals.

“No, I’m not,” Devin says quickly. “I know who you have in mind, but I’m not him. Many people told me I looked like him.”

“Wow, but you can totally play him!” she says, giggling. “You even sound like him!”

“I know. I’m flattered. Thank you!”

“May I please take your order? Or do you need a moment?”

“We’re ready to order,” Devin says. “I checked your menu online before coming. I would like the Steak, and the lady would like the Chicken Filet. I would also like to have a cheese platter for an appetizer.”

“Sure,” Adrianna says as she quickly jots down the order on her writing pad. “I’ll be right back.”

My mouth opens. “You didn’t even ask me what I wanted!” I say to Devin after the server leaves.

“Oh,” he says. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t think we had much of choice. You’re allergic to seafood and you don’t like beef… would you like to change to something else? We can do that!”

“No,” I say. “I’m not mad. It’s just…how did you know about that? I don’t remember telling you what I eat or don’t eat.”

He pauses. “It’s in your employee’s personal file.”

“What are you talking about? There isn’t such a thing, is there?”

He laughs harder. “I’m just kidding, Lexi. I did a little research about you.”

“You did?” My eyes widen even more. “How?”

“You pretty much tell people everything about you on Facebook.”

“Oh.” I laugh nervously, my cheeks flushing. I can’t help being flattered. “Why did you search me?”

“Because I would like to know about my employees,” he says a matter-of-factly.

“Oh, I see. It makes sense.” Devin Gamble is taking his ownership of the vineyard seriously. That explains why he knows so much about me. I’m a bit disappointed, though, because I thought there was a magic connection between us…

When Adrianna brings us our food, she again measures Devin up and down. Obviously, the poor thing can’t believe he isn’t the supermodel himself she’s looking at.

“Can I take a picture with you?” she asks before leaving.

“I would rather not,” Devin says quickly. “I’m sorry.”

“Oh no, that’s fine!” Adrianna says. “Enjoy your meal!”

“Damn,” Devin says a moment later. “This is the downside of being famous. You just don’t have privacy outside your house.”

I don’t know what to say. I’ve never thought being recognized in public is a hassle.

“I’m afraid you must pay for our dinner, Lexi,” he says. “Because I can’t let her see my credit card. If she does, she’ll know I’m lying.”

I swallow. Is he serious? This is going to cost me a fortune!

“I’m only kidding,” he says with a laugh a moment later. “I’ve got the cash.”

“Thank God,” I say and push a piece of chicken filet into my mouth. It’s delicious. “Mmm!”

Devin’s eyes turn smoldering at the sound I make. “You sound so goddam sexy, Lexi,” he says in a low voice.
