“How do you like working here so far?” I ask as we sit down at the table, and I empty the contents from the brown bag, passing her the burger and some napkins.

She grins. “I love it! Thanks again, Andrew. I appreciate the opportunity.”

My name rolling on her tongue sounds like a caress, and my boner gets excited right away. Shit. I take a deep breath and chuckle. “I should thank you, Britt. I’m glad you’re here. You have no idea what a nightmare it was last week.”

“You’re welcome!” She unwraps the burger and smiles like a starving child. “Yummy!”

I keep glancing at Brittney as she bites into the burger. “Mmm!” she lets out a moan of appreciation that drives my cock mad.

And then she licks those luscious lips again. God help me!

A drop of sauce drips onto her camisole, and she wipes it with the napkin.

I swallow the last bite of my burger and stand up. I’ve got to get out of here.

Before I get back to the gym area, I say to her, “Do you need to go shopping? There’s a shopping center on Highland and Hollywood.”

“Why?” she asks, with widened eyes.

“Err,” I think of a proper way to convey my intention. “You’re my assistant and a receptionist, not a trainer, so I would like you to look more professional.”

“Oh, sure!” she says with a blush. “I didn’t prepare to work today.”

“I know. I’m not blaming you. But do you have anything to wear for tomorrow? I could take you shopping after work if you want.”

She nods vehemently. “I have some clothes. I bought them for job interviews.”

“Perfect, then.”

“I’ll need your help to find an apartment, though. You know the city better than I do.”

“Of course,” I say. “But you’re welcome to stay in my house for as long as you wish. I’ve got three bedrooms, and it isn’t far from here.” Damn, did I just sayas long as you wish?I didn’t mean to. When Dana suggested I let her friend stay with me for a few days, I resisted the idea. I never let any past girlfriend move into my house because I preferred living alone. What if Brittney got the wrong idea and did as I said? And why doesn’t it sound like a bad idea?

Chapter 3

Brittney

After lunch, I continue to familiarize myself with my duties. And after I get used to the appointment scheduling software, Andrew shows me how to manage the Facebook page and use it to advertise our programs and to communicate with our clients. There’s so much to do and he’s been doing it most of it all by himself for years. The last assistant worked for him for only a few months and she didn’t seem to have been much of a help. After the regular receptionist, Jennifer, shows up at two in the afternoon, I help Andrew with some bookkeeping, and then it’s six o’clock, and it’s time for him and two of the trainers to go home.

“I can stay longer,” I say to Andrew when he’s ready to leave.

“No, you should go with me,” he says. “So you can follow my car because the streets around my house can be tricky.”

“Okay. Give me just a minute.” I finish up what I’m doing, grab my handbag and say goodbye to the other employees.

When I follow Andrew out of the building, my heart suddenly races. Ohmygod. I’m going home with Andrew. I’ll stay at his house with him for the next few days. I can hardly stifle my grin. Even though his house might be large and we would stay in different bedrooms, the fact still thrills me. And did he mean it when he told me I could stay with him for as long as I wanted?

“Whose truck is that?” Andrew says when we get to the parking garage.

“It’s mine,” I say proudly.

His mouth falls for a moment before he grins with amusement. “You drove your dad’s truck all the way here?”

“Yeah,” I say. “He gave it to me. It’s my graduation present.”

“Well, you’ll have a hard time fitting it into the parking spaces here.”

“I realized that. It took me a while to park earlier.”
