My heels dug into the soft wet sand, lifting my hips only to find empty air. His tail pounded into me, stretching me as it grew thicker with each thrust.

“Are you going to come for me, Princess?” Jasper growled, tightening his grip like he could pull the orgasm from me with sheer force. “Be a good girl and come for me, Princess.”

Jasper mentally stroked my clit with his words, and I came screaming into the abyss while he held me tight. The thrusts of his tail turned shallow as he let me melt into a pool of bliss in his arms. The muscles in my thighs pulsed and twitched as if I had just run two laps around circle nine.

He slid free from me, but his arms held me tight as we shared a quiet moment, listening to the sound of the crashing waves. We both knew to savor the moment because blissful calm is only temporary.

Iwokeupalonein bed like I had most mornings. I still wasn’t an early riser, even though I had been adjusting my sleep schedule since Mor entered my life and turned everything on its head. The bed was large enough to fit all of us and Mor, and it felt like it took ages to crawl out of.

The thick curtains covered the windows, keeping the space as dark as a cave. I pushed a panel to the side, letting the fresh sea salt air fill the room and letting some of the sex smell out. Bright hot light landed on the back of my hand, warming my pale skin. I wondered if I could tan once Aggie unlocked my ability to transform.

I lifted one foot to the window, checking my demon progress before I went out to do the test at the door. The beam of light shone onto my foot. Nothing happened. Putting it back down onto the floor, I quickly checked the other, only to find the skin delicately warmed by the rays rather than threatening to blister.

My hands wrapped around the curtain panels, ripping them apart to allow the bright light to fill the room. I stood, baring my chest and taking a moment to appreciate the sensation denied to my kind.

I was a predator born from nightmares, free to walk outside the shadows.

Taking a deep breath, my lungs pulled in power from the air like a demon. I could survive without another drop of blood for the rest of eternity, or I could power up outside Hell by snagging a quick bite. Really, there wasn’t a downside to having power resources from both supernatural types.

I pulled on loose gym shorts and padded barefoot out of the bedroom and through the kitchen. I strode past Mor as she sat at the table with a cup of coffee clutched between her hands like she was afraid someone would have the nerve to take it from her. All of us knew better than that.

I smiled at her, heading to the cottage door and opening it wide. I put my feet directly into the rays, twisting and turning each to showcase that I was entirely a demon now.

I wasn’t the weakest in the group anymore.

“We’re going home,” Jax said to the rest of the group.

“We’re going home.”

Walkingthroughtheportalto Hell felt almost ticklish against my demon skin rather than the hot snapping sensation it used to resemble. As soon as I breathed in the air, rich, emboldened energy filled my lungs. The honeymoon realm only had a fraction of power compared to Hell.

Jasper led the way, and Mor took up a small amount of space to his side. He was so large he would need both lanes of a walking path, but she could easily slip in beside him. They worked together perfectly in that way.

It was like that with all of us.

Jasper led us to the castle. The ever-shifting and changing hallways moved to make our journey short. A hollow pit settled into my stomach, and I hoped it didn’t mean there would be trouble soon.

The security device of Hell washed over me as I stepped through the threshold of our wing of the palace. I hadn’t felt the subtle magic when I was a vampire, but as a demon, I could feel the powers of the universe at work. We barely made it through the entry and into the main hall before the sound of chaos bounced off the walls and alerted us that things were not okay.

Mor broke into a sprint, and I rushed after her. I passed the others, shifting into shadow when I needed to get around them in the narrow hall. Mor and I reached the war room at the same time, coming to a stop to see Ryan backed into a corner by Cole.

The dragon had at least tripled in size since we last saw him. His head was bent, looking down at Ryan, but it easily would have touched the tall ceilings if he straightened. The top of Cole’s head had blood-red scales that faded into pure white from his neck down, like a drop of blood on a mountain of snow. Even the dragon’s wings were white, and he held them stretched, blocking Ryan’s path from the corner.

“She’s right there!” Ryan yelled, pointing to Mor.

The dragon snorted, releasing a plume of thick smoke, before turning his head, never letting Ryan out of sight as he looked toward the door. The moment Cole’s eye landed on her, it was as if no one else existed, and I wondered if this was what I looked like whenever I saw Mor walk into the room.

The large and frankly awkward dragon attempted to nuzzle its cheek against Mor. Smoke twisted from Cole’s nostrils as he accepted his pats, but thankfully, this time, his tail didn’t ignite. I hoped Ryan was successful at house training the dragon while we were gone.

“Oh. How’s my baby? Have you been a good boy?” Mor cooed, petting the scales on top of the dragon’s head.

Cole opened his mouth, letting a flash of heat fill the small space before his tongue started to fall out one side as he got into his head scratches.

“He’s a bit big for his bed now, Love. Don’t you think?” I asked her, and Justice snickered behind me.

“Jasper, what happens at this stage?” Mor asked.
