The heat in my cheeks told me I was blushing. I didn’t have just one crush to divulge to my best friend. I had three.

“I would say, Colten, too,” I laughed at the end as I looked down at the comforter. It was made of down feathers and felt like sleeping in a cloud.

“So, on a scale of girl has a real chance to nice dream, what stage are we sitting at?” Hannah used her hands on my face to pull my gaze upwards. Her blue gem-like eyes accessed me with complete curiosity.

“I think it could be a real possibility,” I said quietly. “If I didn’t fuck everything up tonight,” I added at the end.

Hannah looked at me like I had just told her she had won a vacation to a tropical beach somewhere. “All three of them? Are you sure? Do you think they would share you like that?”

I shrugged, not knowing the answers to any of those questions. I knew I had a connection with all of them, each in their own unique way. My heart seemed to have three distinct pieces that fluttered for three different men.

“Sometimes, it almost feels like they specifically want me to be with all of them. Or maybe even a competition to see who could get there first. They all know I am a virgin,” I trailed off because Hannah looked like if she didn’t say what she needed to, her head would explode.

“You told them?” she squeaked out as her hands partially covered her mouth to keep her from getting too loud. The more excited Hannah got, the louder she was. Most of the time, she didn’t even realize it was happening.

I sighed. “Yeah, I told them the first night I was here. They asked me if I had a boyfriend, and,” I sighed again, thinking back to how desperate that whole conversation sounded.

“Well,” Hannah said, “anymore to the story or just lots of dramatic looks and blurting out you’re a virgin?”

“I don’t know,” I whined as I fell back onto the mattress. “When I’m around them, I feel this overwhelming energy coursing through my veins. It’s like the energy is coming from them, getting stronger and stronger the closer we are to touching. As soon as we touch, my skin feels hot, and my heart hammers. I’ve always wanted to feel that way about someone, but I never expected to feel that way for three people at once.” I laughed to myself as I stared up at the ceiling.

“Instant, raw, primal attraction,” Hannah said melodically. Almost in reverence. Almost like she knew exactly how I was feeling.

“You too?” I asked, turning my head sharply as I grinned at her. Unlike me, Hannah didn’t blush, but right now, she was as bashful as she had ever been before.

“Mm-hmm,” she muttered while nodding her head before putting her face directly into the mattress.

“Like dating? Not just actively having sex with?” I wanted to be clear. Hannah having sex with several different guys at once wasn’t abnormal for her. Dating them was on a different level.

“Says the one that’s at touching,” she said, turning her head back toward me before sticking her tongue out. “Not dating any of them officially, but they all know about each other, and we have an agreement.”

“How many?” I asked, knowing that I was probably gaping a little as well.

“Five, making sure to count each of the twins,” she said with a smirk.

“Troy and Roy?” I gasped, making a guess considering they were security and twins.

Hannah’s face drained of all color, while her eyes looked more like she was staring at a ghost than her best friend. “You know them?”

“Not very well, but enough to put the pieces together. Are they good to you?” I decided to sit back up and indulge in a few more snacks, and I had earned a glass of wine after today.

“It’s been paradise,” Hannah sighed. A lot of Hannah seemed to be living on a beach island somewhere. I was glad her group of guys were the cause of all her happiness.

Tanner, Colten, and Nik made me feel many things, but sitting on a peaceful beach wasn’t one of them. More like a burning desire to consume or be consumed. No matter what, I would come out of this experience transformed.

“How can you be so sure? It hasn’t been that long.” I asked, grabbing a glass of wine off the table. After waiting all my life, you would think waiting a little longer than a few days after meeting wouldn’t be a problem. But every time I was near one of them, it was like a living fire inside me, growing hotter with each exchange.

“If you’re feeling the way you say, you’re fucked either way. They will always be part of you now.” Hannah’s smile was smaller as it dipped into a bitter note.

I knew she was right. Even if I got to go home now and I never saw any of them ever again, they would still haunt my dreams. I would always seek out their electric current whenever I touched anyone new, wondering if I could find that feeling again. Everything would be a comparison, and I hadn’t even kissed one of them yet.

A sharp knock came at my door, and my heart couldn’t take any more surprises. I glanced at the clock and noticed it wasn’t even that late in the evening. “What the hell,” I sighed. “Just come in, I guess.”

Nik walked through my doorway wearing a t-shirt and gray sweatpants. His blond hair was still wet from a recent shower and stuck up wildly. He had a case of beer in one hand and a bundle of candy in the other. “Sorry I’m late, but I needed to shower after my shift. What’s tonight’s movie?” He offered me the bag of sweets after setting the beer down.

I just stared. My only other option was to lunge at my professor and demand he take my virginity before my ovaries jumped out of my body to entrap him. Wow. That was a bizarre mental image.

Everyone looked at me like I was expected to answer a question I hadn’t heard. “Umm?” I hummed out, looking between them, hoping someone would throw me a fucking bone. I didn’t want to explain what I was thinking about when I should have listened to the conversation in the room.
