“Maybe they weren’t in the realm when we triggered the spell?” Justice suggested, and that did make sense. Besides Mor’s coin from the angel, I didn’t know of any other means of receiving messages across realms.

“We could set up our detection spell and stay here in shifts,” Mor suggested.

“That’s not a terrible idea,” Ryan said as he thought it over.

“I can do the spell, but I’ll have to stay to feel if it’s triggered.” That would work out well anyway, since I am sure it will give Jace plenty of time with Mor.

“Good, I’ll stay too then. I can always hop through the realm portal and mentally call for backup when you get a tingle.” Mor stood, completely exposing her top half were anyone to walk up to the house at that moment. I grabbed her arm and pulled her back down before we ended up with a horrible case of bad luck.

“Fine, but you have to listen,” I growled to her.

She looked at me and smiled, biting her lip lightly. Those fucking cute fangs poking out from her luscious red lips. Her gaze traveled down to where my hand was still wrapped around her arm.

“Let’s get a spell set and then find you two a place to hide out,” Jasper said, breaking me free from the hold I had on her.

I quickly got to work constructing a perimeter spell around the entire property. It was set to alert me if any creatures with their soul power unlocked were to pass the barrier. I didn’t need to come running over here every time a human wandered in.

We headed back toward the main town. There had been plenty of buildings there; chances are we would be able to find something abandoned or unoccupied for us to stay in. Ryan and his pack headed back for Hell. They wanted to get started on tracking Fachnan down.

“This looks promising,” Jasper said happily as he noticed a few windows in the space above a bar full of rowdy and loud patrons. Venturing around the building revealed a set of stairs that led to a door.

Justice ran up the steps, digging into his pockets. He whipped out his lock picking set and held it up in the glimmer of the moonlight. “Hah, ha,” he exclaimed with a grin before quickly getting to work.

“Why does he even know how to do that? Can you pick a Hell lock?” Mor whispered to me.

“He knows lots of weird stuff. I don’t even question it anymore. And no, you cannot pick a Hell lock like that. It takes power.”

Justice stood triumphantly, the door swinging inward. He dipped inside, turning on a light before gesturing for us to come inside. It was clear no one had been in this room in some time. Boxes were stacked along the edges of the rooms with a thick layer of dust covering them. It looked like an apartment-turned storage space. The heavy beat of the music thrummed up from the floor as the town’s nightlife carried on. That was likely the reason why no one was staying here.

“Very promising,” I agreed, walking around.

There was a single bedroom in the back, with a mattress lying on the floor. Good enough to get some sleep. I didn’t need food, and if I wasn’t expending any power, I could last for a few days before needing a recharge. The rest of the pack could bring me potions if I needed them.

“You’ll have to teach me that spell after I’m one of the pack. I can feed off humans and stay here indefinitely,” Jace said as I came back into the main room.

“You, staying in the human realm indefinitely. Sounds perfect,” I mumbled.

“Why don’t you enjoy some alone time with Mor over the next few days and come back without that stick up your ass?” Jace snapped back.

“I have had just about enough of you telling me what to do.” My voice was loud as I stormed over to him.

“Since when am I the one telling someone what they can and cannot do. That is all you, Jax. But you’re welcome. For the same fucking thing you did to me the night at the club. You knew I couldn’t fuck her after you announced I should. So here it is, right back at you. It’s a perfect time, fuck her.” Jace looked at me with venom in his eyes. As if he didn’t walk into my life and take everything away from me. More than that. He took away a piece of me to even exist.

Mentally, I snagged the first object in range, which happened to be an old barstool. I launched it across the room at Jace, hitting him in the side. Pain blossomed in my side, causing me to double over as Jace bent in the other direction holding his ribs. I think I broke a few.

“Be quiet and take it outside before someone downstairs hears,” Jasper whisper yelled, holding the bar stool in one hand.

“It’s fine. I was just leaving anyway,” Jace said, struggling but standing straight.

Not to be outdone, I forced my body upwards, resisting the urge to cradle my ribs that hurt like hell. Logically, I knew there was nothing wrong with my body, but the problem was it felt like my body was screaming out in agony.

I watched him stride up to Mor, grabbing her suddenly before pulling her in for a deep passionate kiss. She didn’t even try to resist him as I watched her melt into the kiss, her body molded to his. He pulled away, smiling at her while she gazed up at him with doe eyes.

“Goodbye, for now, darling. Give ‘em hell,” Jace said, and I was left wondering if he meant “him” as in me or “them” as in the mysterious, powerful stranger.

Jasper and Justice gave her a brief kiss goodbye with their reassurances that they would be back soon to check in on us. As soon as the door clicked shut behind them, Mor turned to me, her arms folded across her chest. It pushed her tits together, and I couldn’t help but stare before realizing her posture meant she wasn’t happy.

“You did it to yourself. So, I don’t want to hear any whining,” she said simply.
