“I mostly bled beings dry. Sometimes a decapitation or ripping their heart out,” Jace said. No doubt in an attempt to make me feel better.

“Demons don’t torture ghosts, Princess,” Jasper said slowly. No wonder he was confused; Justice probably wasn’t the best one to ask for help on group activities.

“Well, I’ve never tortured anyone, and I still think this is fascinating.” I sighed.

“Want to go and kill some non-magic assholes?” Jasper suggested passively.

“What?”

“I’m not sure killing any of them will help this realm, but if it would make you feel any better, I’m down for some lunch,” Jace said, and my head turned toward him, still confused.

“Can we do that? Just kill mortals? What about their souls and balance and all that?” I remembered the vampire bouncer we killed; even that was shrugged off as no big deal.

“The only balance out there is souls live, die, and then are reborn. When something along those lines fucks up, we come in to eliminate it. No one cares about the mortals’ lives. They die and get to start over. Hell, we could slaughter this whole town, and it would probably lead to most of these magical souls being born into a better realm.” Jasper explained, and the other boys started to show more interest.

Internally, part of me still thought of death as bad. Especially when intentionally killing someone. “Sorry, I don’t think I’m ex-human enough for that, guys.” I smiled shyly.

“Don’t be sorry,” Jax said, coming towards me, grabbing my hands to hold in his. My breath caught as my entire body froze so that I wouldn’t move as much as possible. “Never be sorry for choosing not to be violent.” It was his turn to smile shyly as he looked at our joined hands before taking a step back and breaking contact.

“We could go on a quest. Slay a dragon?” Justice asked, optimistically trying to push feelings of excitement onto the others.

“Or how about you take us back to one of those specialty clubs in Hell.” I looked to Justice with a raised eyebrow, and his answering grin told me his response.

CHAPTER16

MORRIGAN

“No offense, Princess, but never let Justice pick the group date night adventure ever again,” Jasper said with a drink in hand. He looked much more comfortable sitting in the middle of the sex club than he did in the museum.

The club we were in was on the second ring of Hell. We came straight here after a quick wardrobe change for what remained of the evening. We traveled around the place together as a pack. Heading from one room to the next to understand what was on the menu here.

The room we were sitting in featured a naked female as a bridge between two other demons. Grunts and moans came from the stage as demons sat at their tables watching. Jax’s eyes continued to flick back up to the stage. He would look for several minutes before returning to the conversation.

“I needed ideas for bonding. With the way the two of you measure dicks all the time and you’re both stabby, the torture museum was a good choice. After being in Justice’s dungeon, I thought it was a neat idea.” I shrugged before biting into Justice’s arm. Even Hell couldn’t provide me with anything as delectable as the taste of my mate’s blood.

Jasper choked on his drink before looking around me to Justice. “You took her to the dungeon? I thought you would wait until she was fully transitioned before you did that?”

“Timing. Opportunity. Interest,” Justice said. “She loved it, by the way. Said I could take her there anytime I wanted.”

I felt the air to my left heating as Jasper lost control of his war. I could almost feel it inside him. It was all bottled up like a reverse message in a bottle, only this bottle; contained the whole ocean. I grabbed ahold of the calm mental shield, and I pulled it down Jasper’s bond inside of me, hoping to bring peace to him. I didn’t know how to do it Justice’s way. And he was too busy poking at Jasper to be in a mood to diffuse him.

The heat receded, and Jasper had a strange but calm demeanor. Guess it worked.

“Is that you, Princess?” he whispered just loud enough for me to hear.

“Yeah, is it ok? I can take it off.” I momentarily worried that I had crossed a boundary.

“No, it’s good. Really good, actually. I just expelled a bunch of the war; I’m not sure why it’s so bad.”

I knew there had been something off about Jasper lately. “Do you think it’s me?”

“I think it’s because I love you, and I am apprehensive about you all the time. I hope things get better once you are fully transitioned into a demon body.” He looked like he was trying to apologize. “I’m trying not to be overprotective and smothering.”

“She actually might like it if you smothered her.”

“Not now, Justice,” I said through clenched teeth as I shot him a look. Jax and Jace casually watched the stage as a male alternated between two females with each thrust.

“I want you to have my back when we are out hunting, but I don’t want you stepping in front of me. Have confidence in my skills, and some of those skills include being injured without it being a catastrophic event. But I don’t need you worrying about what I do with the others. They aren’t doing anything I do not like, and if I wasn’t enjoying it, it wouldn’t happen.”
