“I haven’t felt any of your injuries,” I said to Jace. Perhaps this was one-sided.
Jace stabbed himself in the thigh quicker than I could react, but the familiar burning sensation in my leg told me the bond was going both ways. I clenched my teeth, but he smiled, knowing I felt the pain of the blade as if it was buried deep in my skin. Pulling the knife out agonizingly slowly, I felt each movement intimately, as if it was being done to me.
The knife shot the rest of the way out of his skin and went straight into the fire as I decided I had enough. The pain remained deep inside me, not fading away like a typical demon injury. It reminded me of when my father blocked my demon healing as he sliced into my throat.
“Why aren’t you healing?” I growled out.
Jace smiled as I revealed a weakness to him. “I am healing at the vampire rate.” He smiled at me before turning his head to Mor. “Come on, Darling, lick up the blood and help me heal so Jax isn’t so uncomfortable anymore.”
Mor was out of Justice’s arms and on her knees between Jace’s thighs in a flash. He roughly grabbed her by the back of her hair, and she smiled at him. She used fire to burn away some of his pants, showing the wound. Lunging on him, I watched as she hungrily licked at all the welled blood, the pain in my leg ebbing away with each swipe of her tongue. Once the wound was closed, he pulled her head back before kissing her. It looked like he was trying to taste himself on her tongue.
“Well, that was hot,” Aggie said, breaking the silence, causing Mor and Jace to separate.
“If you figure anything out, please let us know. Oh, and text me whenever you want to hang out. I could use a girlfriend,” Mor said, getting to her feet as the others joined her.
“I will,” Aggie said with a smile that made me regret bringing them together.
CHAPTER10
MORRIGAN
“Fox, are you ready to see the dungeon?”
I quickly tore my gaze from the book on ghost types to look up to Justice. Jax and Jace were off realm, trying to find someone else that might be able to separate their shared pain sensations. Jasper said he wanted to stay at the hunting cabin to research better hunts. In the meantime, Justice and I have spent the past few days in the record hall researching various ghost types and discussing their weaknesses and strengths.
“Are you going to show me the dungeon?” I half-whispered, checking that no other demons had come in while I was absorbed in the book. Ghosts were fascinating but seeing Justice’s dungeon was more exciting than research .
“Well, it is cleansed and ready for you, Fox. Plus, you look like you could use a little break from all this studying. Everything in moderation, my fox.” Justice gave me a warm smile as he gently cupped my cheek.
Looking into his eyes, I was lost within the swirling green depths as I felt a rush of adoration coming off him in waves. Adjusting to his power of feeling emotions hadn’t taken too long, and now I had several mental rooms to shield with.
Slowly leaning in, his lips brushed across mine delicately as he initiated a slow and sensual kiss in the middle of our nest by the fireplace. I wanted to melt into him. His hand wandered around to the back of my head, gripping my hair tightly and pulling so the bite of pain contrasted heavenly against the languid kiss. He pulled back with a slight nip against my lip while maintaining an iron grip on my hair as he smiled at me adoringly.
“I think you’re ready for the dungeon. But remember, there are no safe words there. If you want to wait, that is entirely fine too.” His look took on a more sinister gaze, but excitement rolled off him, and I was anything but afraid.
“No safe words,” I replied with a smile and an enthusiastic nod.
Justice released his hold on my hair as he stood wearing only his favorite pants and a manic smile.
I took his offered hand, and he pulled me flush against him. My fingers threaded through his haphazard white hair, and I gave it a returned tug. I am so fucking thankful I died, and now I get to spend the rest of eternity here in the arms of my mates.
Weaving through the palace hallways, Justice and I bounced excitement between us. We passed a few demons, all of them quickly moving out of our way once they saw Justice.
“I think they’re scared of you,” I laughed, looking back at the demon that nearly ran into a wall that was not a hallway to get out of Justice’s way as quickly as possible.
“Good,” Justice said, smiling.
We left the palace and headed toward the between. The dungeon was not located on ring one. As we made our way to the ring portal, my heart hammered in my chest as my mind raced with all the possible things Justice could do to me inside his dungeon.
“Which ring is this?” I asked, looking around for something familiar; it was still rather dark, which likely meant it was one of the lower rings.
“Ring four.”
Concrete buildings reached toward the sky. I could have just counted the number of rings above me.
“What does the middle of the rings look like? Like, can I look down and see the other rings?” So many questions raced through my mind as I mentally imagined looking down and losing my balance, falling helplessly toward the other rings. They appeared to overlap slightly. I wouldn’t imagine it would feel too good to fall at terminal velocity. But I didn’t even know if physics worked the same way in the Hell realm as it had back in the human realm.
“I’ll take you there sometime. You’ll love it,” Justice answered without answering my questions. “Today, however, is dungeon day.”
