Having heard a commotion, Richard and Susan Vaughn both round the corner of the hallway the same time as me and I nearly collide with my mother. I'm a little taken back at my mother's appearance. She looks out of sorts. Her clothes are rumpled, and her hair is a mess. My father is looking much thesame.

"How the hell did you get in here?" Idemand.

"Your grandmother hasn't changed the locks in over fifteen years," My mother scoffs. "I used my old key. I didn't break in. But seeing as this house will soon belong to me it doesn't make much of a difference now doesit."

Just when I have it in mind to wipe the smug-ass look off her face, I hear the rumble of several bikes, and I offer a smug smile of my own because I know my man is about to walk through thedoor.

CHAPTER SEVEENTEEN

REID

Hey, brother. How's Mila holdin' up?" Quinn inquires as I stride into the clubhouse. "Doing' good," I walk over to the bar where Logan issitting.

"Hey, what's up? I wasn’t expecting to see anyone out here today." I mention as I take a seat and wait for Prez toshow.

"Well, since my woman is with yours and Gabriel's woman has the kids at the park, we thought we'd drag our asses out here for a few hours and shoot the shit, maybe go out back and do some target practice," he says taking a drag from his cigarette, "You wanna join us?" hequestions.

"Got a sit down with Jake," I informLogan.

"Anything we can help you with," I hear Gabriel's voices from across the room where he's sitting on the couch. I twist in my seat to look at him. "Nah, man. Found some dirt on Mila's parents. Just letting him know what'sup."

"You finally staking your claim on her?" Prez asks as the front door slams behindhim

"Forever, brother," I tellhim.

"Alright. Let get down to business" Jake motions for me to follow him to his office. Pulling out the chair, I take a sit and wait for him to take his beforetalking.

Under normal circumstances I wouldn’t have brought anyone else in on personal shit like this, but the fact that we may have to rub elbows with the law again I need to make Jake aware of my findings and my plans. The little information I gave him over the phone last night was just the tip of the iceberg. The deeper I dug, the more I found. "I need to make you aware of the fact that Mila's parents are being investigated for embezzlement on a federal level, which means I may have to deal with the law directly myself to fix the problems they've been causing her already." Iexplain.

"You plan on handin' them over?" Prez asks crossing his arms over hischest.

"I happen to find what the federal government couldn't," I lean back in my chair, "Which is all the evidence they need to put the Vaughn's behind bars for the next tens years." I'm not going to tell him about the will or the money. None of that information has any effect on why the club needs to know what's going on. Before I continue, my phones rings. Normally I wouldn’t answer a call during a sit down, but with what just went down with Mila I won't take any chances. I dig the phone out of the pocket of my cut and immediately notice Austin's number lighting up the screen. My stomach sinks. Swiping, I answer my phone. "Yeah."

"Reid, we got trouble over here. Mila's parents are inside. Mind hoppin' on that bike off yours and getting over here before the neighbors decide to call thecops?"

I hang up and stick my phone back into my pocket. The look on my face prompting Jake tostand.

"Trouble?" Prez asks as he steps forward with fists balled at hissides.

"Yeah, Mila and Bella went to her old place to pack a few things. Sorry, Prez, I gotta ride." I turn toleave.

"You'll fall in behind me, son. We'll all ride." Heorders.

Five strong, we mount our bikes and take off towardsMila's.

With the rumble of six Harleys rolling through the neighborhood, people stop and stare. One by one we pull into her driveway blocking the cars already sitting there. No one is leaving until we're damn good and ready for themto.

Dismounting my bike, I stride towards the front door where Austin is standing with his arms crossed. Stepping to the side he clears the way and one by one my brothers fall in behind me and in a matter of seconds the small living room is ass to elbow full of bikers. I step up beside Mila and place myself between her and her petrified lookingparents.

"I see you associate with gang members now," her mother snubs as she glances around theroom.

"Look you plastic ass bi-," Bella starts to mouth off before Logan cuts her off by grabbing her around the waist pulling her off to theside.

"We got a fuckin' problem," I bark leveling my gaze at Mila'sfather.

Standing taller her father puffs his chest out, "I'd say we do. You'retrespassing."

"Like hell I am. This is my home," Mila says standing her ground. On paper it appears that they legally have the right to be here as their names are on the deed to the home. But I'm willing to bet that piece of paper was forged just like all therest.
