My head fell to the bed, bouncing as he pushed as deeply as he could inside me. His body stiffened, and then he grunted. I could feel him comeinsideme.
It wasbliss.

ChapterNine
The storm rolled in quickly, not giving anyone much warning. Not even our wolves sensed it until it was closer than we had thought. Outside Luca’s room—our room—was a balcony with a very comfortable chair and an awning over it. That’s where I was sitting outside, watching the storm take over. Every rumble was beautiful and charged me withenergy.
The door opened and Luca stepped out. “There you are. Still have a thing for storms,Isee.”
“Youremembered.”
He walked over, lifted me up, and sat in the chair, pulling me onto his lap with very little effort. I curled into him, resting my head on hischest.
“I love how you fit against me,beautiful.”
My heart did that fluttery thing it had been doing every time Luca said or did something nice for me, which meant it happened a lot. He was always doing small things to let me know he was thinking about me. A small touch on my arm as he walked by while going to his office. A text that he was thinking of me. Picking me up on the couch and planting me on his lap while I watched television right in front of everyone. All of it was adding up and sinking deeper inmysoul.
“Me, too,” I replied just as a crack when off in the distance then the rumble of thunder shaking the worldaroundus.
“I remember everything about you, Caleigh, never doubt that. You used to love to sit out and listen to the rain and never cared it was lightning so badly or so close it could have hurt you. You were strong and independent in your own mind, even at ayoungage.”
“It’s never changed,” I said into his shirt, inhaling him and the rain, a magnificent combination, and one I never wanted to forget. Those strings between us tightened. Each time that I thought they couldn’t get stronger, they proved mewrong.
“That’s another thing I love about you—history.”
“Yeah, like the time you covered my entire room with toilet paper while I slept, put shaving cream on my hand, and then tickledmynose.”
He laughed. “You’ve always been a heavy sleeper. How about when you and Sage followed me and my buddies out to the lake just to watch usstripdown.”
I gasped. “We did no such thing.” That was a total lie, but how the hell did he know that? We never toldasoul.
“Smelled you, Caleigh. Knew you were there the whole time.” I tried to lift up, but he pushed me back to his chest. “I like you here, and yes,it’strue.”
“Shit,” I grumbled, knowing there was no use in arguing. He hadcaughtme.
“Yeah,noshit.”
The rain poured down, falling off the awning in waves. The thunder crashed, and lightning lit up the sky. All the while, I lay with my man, listening to him tell me all the things he knew I had done, even at ayoungage.
It wasmagical.

“Right,so if you used this on a daily basis, when it comes time to look things up and organize them, we’ll have a much better shot of not missinganything.”
Luca listened intently to everything while I sat on his lap at his insistence, telling him my ideas. It didn’t take much convincing, because I loved sitting there, close to him, connected. It was the time when I felt safest andsecure.
“I want you to come in and handle it,” hedeclared.
Blowing out a breath, my hair moved with it. “It would keepmebusy.”
He twisted me, pulled me to his lips, and kissed me. “I’ll keep you busy.” His lips attacked mine while I fully turned and straddled him in his office chair. It had slots on the sides where I threaded my legs through. Then I twisted his hair in my fingers the roughness of his face takingmeaway.
We drank each other in. My core clenched, and the more I rocked my hips against his hard length, the wetter Ibecame.
He moved his hands underneath my arms and lifted me, placing me on the desk after pushing things off totheside.
