“Court wedding formal.”Worro kept track of Keera’s position.“We need all the luck we can get.”

Zera nodded and passed the information along.

“Oh, excellent. She has one who has the stamina to dance from sunset to midnight.”Zera smiled.“She’s making the contact for me.The woman has a day job and will need to get time off.”

Worro nodded.“Good, so you have got that handled.Keera’s getting frustrated, so I am going to help her with the dress.”

Zera held up her hand.“I have more experience.Back in a moment.”

She left, and in under a minute, Keera was relieved and stepping into her heels.A minute after that, her familiar step was coming toward him as she spoke softly with Zera.

He had chosen the dress, but seeing Keera in it still took his breath away.It was a brilliant blue with panels inset that floated and teased him as to the shape of her legs.

She had the garment bag over her arm and was smiling.“You are very good at finding my size.”

His hands were clenching, and he got up and wrapped her in a hug.“I hope this will replace the one you had to sell.A new set of firsts.”

She held him.“It’s a very good choice.Same colour and same neckline.”

He sighed happily.“I remember that very well.”

She chuckled and said, “When is dinner?”

“We are going now.”

Zera arrived.“Klauz’s?”

Worro nodded.“Yes.We have one of the private rooms for dinner with her family and certain members of mine. And some friends.About twenty people.”

“Well, have fun.See you back in two weeks, Keera.Or see you at the wedding.Either one will be great.”

Keera gave a thumbs-up from Worro’s arms.

He stroked her back and said, “I think we should go.”

She inhaled deeply and nodded. She reluctantly let him go but took his arm and left her work clothes hanging on her door. She wouldn’t need her outfit for two more weeks.“You know, this is the strangest thing.Paid time off.Whatever am I supposed to do with it?”

They exited the lift into the main lobby.Worro smiled.“Me.You are supposed to do me.”

She chuckled as they walked out and ignored the admiring glances that they were getting.“Not until we take the vows. This is going to be a tense dinner.”

He laughed.“Keera, you have no idea.”

Zera got the confirmationfrom the Sethir.Vaika was responsible; Heraina’s grandmother had influenced her, but her jealousy of Keera had motivated her.She had hired the assassin to torture and disfigure Keera. She was not supposed to survive.Everything that happened afterward was to keep Keera from rising enough to get Worro’s attention again.

It seemed that fate refused to keep them apart.Worro wasn’t kidding about his fury, but he kept it calmed for Keera. After they were wed, he would be allowed to create a permanent link with her, and from there, he would be able to find her anytime.Keera wasn’t upset by the prospect. For the first time since Zera had met her, she seemed relaxed and happy.

The reception the following week was going to be the event of the decade.Zera was going to break into her escort wardrobe to find something suitable.Torun was invited, and she was as well.Maybe they could dance.
