"Yes, but I just feel bad leaving the girls. Are you sure we are doing the right thing? I mean, what if Sergio comes here while we are gone. What if he retakes the victims?"
"We have a full security team watching the property and its guests. Some of them are even the guys I met in the Marine Corps who do this as a side job, so I trust them. We won't be too far away, so whenever you feel we need to return, we will."
I nod, and we eat our lunch in silence. I use this time to mentally review my checklist. I'm almost done with my paperwork for the Foundation and have ordered the monthly supplies. I'll need to call the post office and let them know that both Laney and Heather can sign any mail that needs my signature. All I'll have left to do is finish packing, and I'll be ready to leave by six this evening as planned.
"I have something for you, Ry. I stopped by the house to grab it since I was so close," Beau states.
"Oh? What is it?"
"Well, I'm not sure how you will feel about it, but it would mean the world to me if you did this, even if it isn't real…"
"O—kay," I chuckle nervously.
Beau digs into his pocket, pulls out two plastic baggies, and hands me one. He says, "This is one I know you will want. I'm not sure why I waited so long to give it to you."
I look at the bag and gasp, "My locket!"
"Yeah, I thought I had lost it when I went to Liam's because it was hanging around my mirror, but luckily I still have everything."
"Thank you for taking care of it for me." I pull him in for a hug. "I love you, Beau."
"You have no idea how much I love you, baby."
We momentarily sit in each other's arms, enjoying the comfort the other brings. When we finally break from the hug, Beau keeps my hand in his. Warmth spreads through me as I notice how he looks at me.
"What is it?"
I furrow my brow, but Beau reassures me it's nothing bad. "This is yours; even though it only lasted a short time, I still want you to wear it." Opening his hand to show me my simple wedding band, tears form and spring forward.
"Oh, my God. I thought it was gone for good!" I cry out. "Where did you find it?"
"Special delivery," Beau scoffs. "I tried telling you that day you had the flashback, but you cut me off. Anyway, I had just finished packing up our place out in Cali, when a delivery guy came to the door. It was wrapped all pretty like with a note. 'She’s ours now. Give this to someone else and we’ll take her, too.'I'll never forget what that note said. The fact that they thought I would give you up that easily…"
Glancing at his hand where he still wears his ring, it makes me smile. I slip mine on my ring finger and hold my hand out. "I don't care if it isn't real anymore. Our marriage was very real for our two weeks together, and I will wear this proudly."
"Oh, thank fuck!"
Beau pulls me in for another kiss, but we're interrupted by a knock on my door. Looking up, I smile. "Come in, Heather. What's up?"
"I'm so sorry to interrupt, but I was coming here to see if you could contact Beau." My friend chuckles, looking at Beau. "Did you bring your handy dandy toolbelt?"
"It's out in the truck; why, what's up?" he asks.
Heather pointedly states, "Kristie's sink has a leak, and it should be fixed before you leave."
"Yes, ma'am. I'll go check it out now."
With one last kiss, Beau leaves me to sit here and stare at the silver ring on my finger. I hope Bain doesn't get mad, but it's not like we are actually married. I stare at it for a moment longer before standing and returning to my desk to finish the paperwork so we can leave on time.

Beau
It doesn't take us long to get to Rhode Island, just a little over thirty minutes, to be exact, but Dominik is having a special dinner this evening and wanted us to be there for it. I haven't talked to him in at least six years except for the brief call I made in order to plan this visit, and I haven't seen him in person in over ten years. Dominik is a very well-loved doctor in his town and the surrounding towns. However, if some of his patients knew what he got up to in his spare time, I doubt they would continue going to him. This state is small, the town is even smaller, and everybody knows your business for the most part.
I was one of those people. The ones that judged others for their kinks. I didn't understand the ways of the kink community, and although I still don't agree with some of it, to each their own. I see how it helps Ryan deal with her issues, but I also know that she likes certain things. It's like me; I don't like being tied up or having implements used on me, but damn, does it turn me on when she uses her nails on my back or bites my neck and shoulder.
All I'm saying is that Dominik and my dad are regular people with regular jobs who happen to be kinky as fuck. They have urges. I know I've had urges. Just last week, Ryan was in the kitchen making a late-night snack, and when I saw her, I had the urge to bend her over and fuck her right over the counter. I came so hard, and she didn't come at all, and for some reason, that turned me on all over again.
