To watch a soul break

Before it dies.

Raven sat in the passenger seat of Jax’s car, a little shell shocked by his confession. Not the one about him having sexual relations with someone of the same sex but that she had been his safe space to grow into who he wanted to be. While Raven had always strived to be that for everyone she had come across, it was a completely different thing to hear it spoken out loud, especially by someone who had fought her at every opportunity when it came to his sexuality and how he saw himself as a man. These truths spoken in the quiet interior of his Mustang felt long overdue but somehow made the perfect sense to her now.

This Mustang had bared witness to so many of their firsts—their first kiss, the first time they had sex, the first time they made it official, along with their first fight and first break up. It only made sense that Jax had finally bared a little more of his soul to her in his car.

She gave his hand a reassuring squeeze, not sure what to say to everything he told her. For the first time in their relationship, she was left speechless, and when a loud yawn escaped her lips, she knew she didn’t have the brain capacity to keep this conversation going at the level it needed to be had.

“Are you taking me to the precinct tomorrow?” Jax nodded, and before she could stop herself, the words escaped as easily as the yawn had, “Do you want to come in? It’s late anyway. It doesn’t make too much sense for you to drive home and come back here when the sun comes up.”

That logical voice in her head that had kept her smart when it came to her relationship with Jax started screaming that this was a bad idea. Raven knew inviting him inside her home would be leaving the door wide open to invite him back into her life. Everything she felt in the locker rooms of Lush—that had been born out of panic—was like an annoying song stuck on repeat in her head. She knew she should draw the line in the sand and keep him on his side, especially with what happened at Lush tonight, but maybe that was why she was holding on just as much. She didn’t want to be alone in her home, not when Jax was her own safe space.

“Raven,” Jax chuckled, shaking his head. “Don’t invite me in out of some misplaced pity.”

“It’s not like that and you know it,” she whispered, praying he heard the words she didn’t want to say out loud.

“Then what’s it like?” Jax’s voice dropped to a low timbre that vibrated across her skin. His eyes had darkened as his gaze trailed to her bare legs, across her stomach, up to her chest, and lingered against her lips before he locked eyes with her.

All at once Raven’s body began to hum as if his tongue had trailed the path his eyes had made, causing her to shift in the passenger seat of his Mustang. The air had grown hot and heavy—the humidity settled against her lips, and Raven slowly licked the moisture away before pulling her bottom lip in between her teeth.

Jax’s jaw ticked, and she saw his nostrils flare as he released the grip on her hands and reached for the back of her neck, pulling her mere inches from his face. She desperately wanted him to devour her with his lips, but she held back even as her breathing turned erratic—getting intoxicated on his scent.

A delicious ache settled between her legs, and when Jax’s other hand fell to her right thigh, gently guiding it open, the ache grew, causing her to bite her lip to keep from groaning out loud.

“Ms. Wright,” Jax purred, his hand a light touch against the bare skin on her inner thigh. The caress was barely there, just enough to drive her insane as his hand inched higher up her leg, but never high enough to where she ached for him. “Tell me what’s it’s like then,” his voice had dipped even lower, but it seemed to echo in the car, engulfing her the way his touch and scent were doing.

“Since when are you at a loss for words?” Jax taunted, the grip on the back of her neck had moved up to her hair. He fisted her golden locks, tugging her head back, while his hand kept it’s maddening pace on the inside of her thigh.

She was going to combust in his Mustang. She could feel her own juices slip out of her and onto his seat and she didn’t particularly care. There was something primitive and territorial coursing through her now that anyone he shared this Mustang with would know she had been here, that he was hers—even if it was only for the remainder of the night.

“Ms. Wright,” Jax snapped, tugging at her hair harder. “I believe I asked you a question.” He licked her bottom lip as he cupped her pussy.

Raven whimpered and instinctively closed her legs, trying to trap him. She rubbed herself against his palm, hoping it would cause enough friction to give her enough of a push to fly off the edge she was teetering on.

Jax quickly pulled his hand away, doing shit to conceal his chuckle at Raven’s frustrated growl. His hand wrapped around her throat. His thumb and middle finger putting just the right amount of pressure under her jaw to restrict her breathing and Raven felt herself cream even more.

Her hips moved faster on their own, chasing the phantom feeling of Jax inside of her. She closed her eyes and imagined him physically fucking her as he applied more pressure against her throat.

“My pretty little Raven,” he bit her bottom lip. “You’re going to cum all by yourself, aren’t you?” Raven whimpered in response. She was too close to form any coherent words.

“You will always be the reason I fall to my knees in worship,” Jax whispered against her skin. “Let me feel what it’s like to be inside you while you cum.”

Raven nodded and Jax released his grip on her long enough so she could climb over the center console and straddle Jax’s lap. They made quick work of unbuttoning his jeans, and her unclipping her body suit. The steering wheel dug into her back but she didn’t care, she only cared about getting Jax inside of her.

There was a frantic need that made Raven’s blood run hot and her movements erratic. There was still fear pushing her reactions with Jax. She was chasing the sunrise, feeling as if once that bright light stretched across the sky, she would either wake up or Jax would be gone—this whole night at Lush a figment of her imagination and mourning heart.

They had gone through this cycle—falling, fucking, and heartbreak—so many times, Raven was expecting Jax to utter the words ‘he couldn’t do this anymore’ or for her to be the one to push him away again. She had been resolved to do it in the locker rooms, and yet here she was slowly sinking herself on top of Jax’s hard cock, his name a praise on her lips just as the night sky started to lighten.

Raven could feel the first light start to kiss her skin like Jax’s lips had been the one to chase away the darkness around her. His hands wrapped around her waist, guiding her movements and pulling her impossibly close to him. They were two bodies, but like this—always when they had sex—it was as if they were truly one person, finally coming together. Jax was so wrapped around her body that he’d seeped into her heart that very first time they fucked, and she hadn’t been able to get him out of her system since.

A soul connection.

Jax’s lips found hers, sealing their fates for what seemed like the millionth time as Raven inched closer to her climax. Jax pulled away first, kissing her chin, her jaw whispering words of praise she only ever heard whispered at altars.

“You are mine, Raven. I belong to you,” his words were barely audible over Raven’s moans, but they were pushing her closer and closer to the edge. “I can feel your cunt tightening around my cock.” His chuckle was a light feather touch against her lips as he continued to fill her. “She doesn’t want to let me go any more than I you. Open your eyes, Rave.”

Her eyes fluttered open, unaware when she’d closed them in the first place. A gasp left her lips when she saw the burning fire in Jax’s eyes that matched her own. “I’m not going anywhere, Raven.” The conviction in his voice made her heart ache as much as her cunt.
