Somehow Danielle had gotten closer, or had Raven closed the distance between them? She wasn’t sure, but something had drawn them together at this moment. Raven could feel Danielle’s breath skirt across her lips, and Raven had to fight herself from tasting her.

“You remind me of someone,” Raven murmured, reaching out to touch the strands at her shoulder—soft, just like Lea’s. “I never noticed it before,” Raven continued more to herself than to Danielle.

Danielle had been her assistant and friend for what seemed like a lifetime already and just now, Raven saw the dusting of freckles that danced just underneath her right eye. They were faint, almost unnoticeable unless Raven was staring into her face as she was now. She also noticed the way her bottom lip poked out like Lea’s had done. Raven had spent a lot of their relationship sucking and nibbling on that bottom lip, and desire made her blood hot with the need to do it to Danielle now.

“I hope it’s someone hot.” Danielle’s tone was light and teasing, and that was just another way her and Lea were similar. Even down to the way her eyes held this hint of innocence that was sparked by a wicked gleam that beckoned Raven to play.

“Actually, she was. I thought I loved her once.” The confession slipped before she could stop herself. Danielle, the memory of Lea, had Raven under a dangerous spell. There was something there, just below the surface that Raven could feel. It was caressing her neck and whispering dirty deeds into her ear, begging her to push Danielle back up against the nearest wall and find out if she tasted the same as Lea, or better.

Raven hesitated a moment. The lust inside of her waged a battle against the logical side of her, and that was all Raven needed to slowly drop her hand from Danielle’s hair. This wasn’t right for all sorts of reasons.

She went to take a step back when Danielle caught her wrist. They stared at each other, Danielle’s gaze was filled with challenge as she pulled Raven’s hand between her legs. Raven bit her lip when her hand met warm and wet flesh. On instinct, Raven’s middle finger moved, dousing itself in the cream that coated Danielle’s lips.

Danielle shuddered against her touch, her eyes rolling just as she rocked her hips against Raven’s hand. “It’s okay,” Danielle whispered against Raven’s lips, “you can fuck me if you want.”

Such a pretty little Raven

Look how they flock to hold you

Such a pretty little Raven

Greedy for the world

That rests between those legs you’re holding

While the taste of another still lingers on your tongue.

Such a pretty little Raven

You’ll try to take flight

When this becomes too much

Such a pretty little Raven

You’ll break like those you’ve left broken

And when you cry out for help

Your pleas will go unanswered

Just like those you’ve left in your wake.

Jax pulled into the empty parking spot in front of the Big Larry’s Suit and Tie shop. Raven told him that he needed a suit for the party this weekend, which Jax found odd. They were going there to fuck strangers and each other. He thought it would make more sense for them to be in a little amount of clothing, not dressed to the nines. But he didn’t know how any of this really worked, and he was following Raven’s lead on this. He remembered the few times he’d been to Lush and people had dressed according to the theme; this would be no different.

His phone buzzed in his pocket, and he quickly pulled it out to see a text from his mechanic friend. He dropped off Raven’s car that afternoon after he dropped her off at Lush. She made a big stink about him fixing it but caved quickly when he suggested he be the one to drive her around town. She didn’t want to be dependent on him, which Jax understood. One of the many things he loved about her was that she never needed him. He was in her life purely because she wanted him there—until he fucked it up.

Jax read the message:

Eric: J said you dropped off a black Toyota Camry. I thought you drove a Mustang.

Jax: I do. It’s a friend’s car. I told J what was wrong with it and what the other mechanic said.

Eric: This car’s been to Jennings shop??? Crap. Alright, I’ll see what the damage is and what needs to be fixed. Those fucks never know what they’re doing. When do you need the Camry?

Jax: Sooner rather than later but don’t rush.

The longer Raven went without her car, the more reason Jax had to stick around. They had agreed to give this a try, but they hadn’t officially put titles on what they were doing, and while Jax wanted it all, he was playing the long game and needed to wait till Raven was on board.
